Always loathed the man but prepared to give him a chance.
However it’s no good beating the lesser teams and going to pieces as soon as we play a challenger.
The team should absolutely have been up for that game and they totally weren’t, we need to know why the hell not!!

But that's a debate for another thread.....

You say that but many more non performances like yesterday and we might find our paths diverge a lot quicker than everyone's expecting.
If that happens yes but I doubt that it will and DL has a lot invested in this appointment. Yesterday highlighted a need for investment if not in January then definitely in the summer. Patience is needed.

The big question is can Mourinho learn
I think the last two gigs for him didnt work out. He has changed his demeanor.Im hoping he will develop himself and our team
So far he has been honest in his assessments and is not afraid to say he was wrong..met I think
Still willing to give him chances

I'm not sure but would you really say that our game for two years would be considered as being exciting footie????? You mean the idea was to create exciting footie but it didnt happen for 2 years and that was what...didnt go as planned.
It was terrible footie.
This was one game ffs!!!!
It was absolutely crap boring footie lifeless shit
(Yes 5 minutes at the end if a few games doesnt cut it)
Determining what constitutes "exciting football" is indeed a very subjective assessment.

I, personally, enjoy(ed) Poch's style of football which is rich in passing and movement, with a strong emphasis on ball retention. Yes, I concur the last year didn't go as planned (and yes, it was very dire at times), but hiring a head coach like Mourinho, who is almost the exact opposite doesn't make sense to me. Mourinho's long-ball, counter-attacking football, even against the likes of Bournemouth, Burnley and Wolverhampton is not what Spurs stands for (about the glory)... Poch made me (us) believe in Spurs again… Not only by winning, but winning with style & panache.

And if/when Poch's appointed as the next manager of Man Utd, we'll all (especially, Levy) watch them in envy and regret. ...'cause he's magic, you know...

Is it me, or are there different posters around after a defeat than a win? Very negative round here again.
The Mourinho factor will make this more extreme. He's an incredibly divisive figure and a fair few wanted him gone before he even arrived.

You could be right but I cant believe he would shove aside a player like Ndombele to hoof it up. It would be completely stupid.
But if he did I cant see this relationship lasting.
In any case it's an easy situation to see. Either he will or he wont. Soon we will know.
I dont care who the manager is. I'm a Tottenham man but I have one requirement and it's to see us play good football and for lack of the proper word, poignant football.
If it comes with Mourinho great (he can learn) if it's someone else fine too.
But let's give him a chance.
He has been so far more honest that Poch with his assessments so that one in his favour.
I felt Poch didnt know how to develop the statement to become more fluid. Can Mourinho maybe yes or maybe no. Let's see

I wasnt convinced by Poch
He had a limited vision. His darling system. Limited.
I'm not worried if he goes to United
His comments mumbo jumbo bullshit talking
Was nonsensical to me
He's nothing to me now

It's simple really
The proof will be in the pudding
And it wont be 5 years
Mourinho is clever. He doesn't seem up his own arse these days so he is staying level (the meds could start wearing off soo I admit it)
So if that's true he CAN learn.stupid not to

For a fundamentally reactive manager, it was piss poor not to respond much better to Lampard outwitting him. His 'Conte's system' comment wasn't honesty, it was a dig at Lampard. He'd been outmaneuvered and didn't respond effectively. The first option would have been to leave Kane up front on his own and be more compact with 451. That would've forced their back three to stick or twist...allowing us an extra man in midfield, or forcing them to screw with their own system. It's happened to us when we've played 3 CBs.

Anyway, it must be quite a hit for him to have young Frank so thoroughly outwit him. It's such a big win and return to form for them. And quite a concern for us that his former clubs have so thoroughly predicted his set up for easy wins.

And there's the rub. His system is predictable, and can be nullified at the moment. Mostly due to the players are pieces that don't fit his puzzle. And to compound matters, they are in a miserable run of form (Dele, Aurier, Jan, Dier, etc). Many managers have predictable systems. Eg, Klopp or Pep. They do not change their system of play. Instead they focus on the players that can enable their approach.

So, it's far too simplistic to suggest opposition teams can beat us because we play the same system. So does Liverpool, but that doesn't stop them from winning.

The one thing that gives me hope from the weekend is that when we had some technical players on the pitch (Eriksen, Ndombele) even with 10 men our football slightly improved.

The football in the first half was horrific but he is right to point out individual mistakes ultimately cost us over and above tactics.

I think there is a case to be made, that good teams can weather being under the pump, our players simply folded, you can’t always rely on a tactical advantage. It has to be about not making mistakes and being resilient in tough moments.

People don't have to like him. It's just dispiriting knowing that every bad result will be held against him.
Completely agree. Whatever your opinions on either Poch or JM, if the team continues to under perform under the leadership of two very good/very different managers then there are really only two other areas to look at which are behind the failures. That’s the players or Levy. If it’s Levy, that problem ain’t going away. Which leaves the players. Shit attitude by too many.

So I’d much prefer to back off JM, and give him time to change things up (if Levy allows). The JM bashing achieves absolutely nothing.

Maybe Jose should try changing the formation/system.

Maybe he will. Maybe he doesn’t trust certain players to do that though. Although he has said other will get a chance over the festive period and with Son missing it might force us into a change. What if he brings in Foyth, GLC, and sessegnon like some are demanding then we lose against Brighton. He’ll be lambasted for that. He’s an experienced manager, he will know why he’s playing certain players and it should be pretty obvious to fans why he is and why he’s set up like he has.

He needs to get players in the team that he wants. We should be backing him in January but we won’t, we never buy properly then despite other teams doing it to some degree.

Jose defending our player publicly ... About time, while Sonny isn't going to get away with it, how many times have I sat and listened to managers of other teams back their player - rightly or wrongly - mentality.
