These types of comments still make me laugh. Of course every team wants to win things, but if you look at us as a club now and the progress we've made, it's honestly been nothing short of brilliant, despite not having a trophy. Rivals will always try to make it looks as i we've been nothing but a failure, but they really couldn't be more wrong.

Is funny coming from a Chelsea player too, I'd love to see where they'd be now without that injection of Russian money.
If you took away the last 20 years of their existence (can't bring myself to call it 'history'), especially the Abramovich years, you'd be left with west London's equivalent of Wet Spam, with league finishes anywhere from 8th or so (with the occasional Ropy League spot) to relegation dog fights, maybe even going down occasionally. And Chelscum don't even have the saving grace of having won us the World Cup.

They developed Jimmy Greaves and Terry Venables for us. We've to thank them.:)

They won the European Cup winners cup final in 1971, the FA Cup the year before that, they'd won the league in the 50s and the league cup in the 60s. I hate to say it because they've bought their way to success, but you can't just ignore the last twenty years. There's a whole generation of fans and players who only know Chelsea as a big club now.

As a lad it was disturbing to see the the FA Cup brought to my school by David Webb and Dave Sexton.
.
Sexton was an old boy of the school. All pupils were allowed to walk past and briefly touch the cup.
.
1971 was described as the year that it all 'came to London' - Arsenal with their poxy League and Cup double, us with the League Cup and Chelsea with the ECWC.

Could have been different - we finished 3rd that year, losing at home to Liverpool in the FAC quarter final replay and Arse in the last game of the season. Massive sell out/thousands locked out but I got there early from school both nights and stood in the Park Lane watching us lose both times.

I'm sorry. Chelsea can repeatedly say what ever they like and ban them as it happens but it doesnt many any difference. It's clearly not a detractor for this shit as it seems like they have an incident or 2 every month. Maybe banning their supporters for a few games will get it through the supports heads. This stuff has no place in football or in society. Punishing the many? Maybe, but it's time. It will encourage the decent ones to be more vigilant and it will show the racists that their actions have far reaching consequences which would hopefully encourage them to fuck off or change their outlook.

I don't know how you can put in a stadium ban for something that didn't happen in the stadium. I don't see what Chelsea, or any club, can do to stop things like this happening outside of stadiums. I think clubs need to be more open about bans though. If every club in the country announced that any fan caught being racist or abusive would be banned for a minimum of five years then these incidents would soon stop. Actually there's always going to be a few idiots, but you can't stop everyone.

Who the fuck cares that it didnt happen in their stadium or country? This had to have been like thir 10th incident this year. And that’s just the ones that are reported. Feels like every month there’s a new one with them. Chelsea can moan all they’d like that there trying here but it’s high time full on home and away support stadium bans follow therir racist/anti semitic ways. First one should be 3 games. If it doesnt help, then 5 more.

There's one small, but significant, problem, Hank: a small group could dress up in a club's colours, get together and film themselves singing a racist song, and that club then gets punished. How soon before fans started doing it to their rivals on a regular basis once they see clubs getting punished for stuff that they aren't in any position to take action against? A group of Arsenal fans could dress up in Spurs colours, film some racist singing and we then get slammed with a punishment, even though it had nothing to do with us. There are some limits on what a club can do.

I know where you're coming from, and I'm certainly not saying that Chelsea are any good at sorting out their very self-evident racism problem; from my perspective, they're categorically not. But punishing them for what people do away from their patch isn't right and could cause problems for other clubs too.

No club can be responsible for their fans all the time. Where would you draw the line?
I don't know the circumstances behind that video. Was it at a game? Lets face it anyone who does anything like that, especially in this day and age with mobile phones everywhere, is an idiot and they aren't going to think too much before they do it. Just ban every idiot who gets caught.
As for stadium bans you mentioned recently that we didn't deserve a ban after the guy threw a banana as it was only one incident, but how about now after that guy ran on the pitch on Tuesday night? It wasn't racist, but it was player abuse.

It’s a moot point anyway. Chelsea’s immune to needed action being taken against then. Just like all clubs are. The ruling body’s are entirely too weak willed to properly go after this stuff and punish it correctly

I draw the line at calling any arabs bombers, calling black people the hard N word, blocking minorities from getting on trains in their home city solely because of the color of their skin, gas chamber sounds, etc. All of which, Chelsea supporters have been known for doing over the years. This isnt a new thing this season. It’s the same old story with this club.

* I also draw a line at having a brothel masquarading as a pub next to the ground:ROFLMAO:

That's because you're a decent person, but it's not really what I was asking. Do you hold clubs accountable for all crimes that their fans commit regardless of if they were on match days, or had anything do do with football?

Clubs should be responsible for ensuring their fans behave inside their ground and for advising them of their expected behavior. You can't make them responsible for everything they do outside of the ground, especially incidents on a non-matchday or miles from the ground. I just don't see how punishing everyone in the ground will help in those situations?

The new misconception is 'banana' - which made it 'racist' !

It was a banana skin which was litter. The press prefer banana because it makes a bigger story with lurid headlines.

The 57 yr old guy is a Greek/Greek Cypriot - not saying he couldn't be a racist- a but definitely a twat.

Just like that imbecile pitch runner.
