There is now so much wrong that you know it can't possibly be a quick fix and the prospect of next season is very concerning,, given our inevitable lack of worthwhile transfer activity in the summer.
JM can't be totally blamed for the situation but ,what is clear, is that he is not the man to put things right. I think we will probably stick with him, have a dreadful start to next season and be forced to make a change before Christmas. I think the league will only get harder next season and am more concerned by the clubs below us at the moment. Southampton seem to have joined the growing list of them who look far better than us now.

Makes sense we're targeting PEH then, buy the best from those around you ...

Everyone talking about "we need a rebuild"...This is nothing new! We ARE having a rebuild. Poch said it, JM said it.

That's what we're doing now. As much as I hated watching that turgid stuff JM has started with the problem areas. Defence!

No one can argue our defence has not looked more solid. Hopefully, as things progress so will other parts of our game

I don’t think our defence looks more solid.

we’ve been lucky not to concede more in all the games since the restart, including last night. Sheff U scored some terrible goals from a defensive pov

my opinion -

its going to be a while. we still have a good squad in aggregate with talent and market value. but there's going to be some buys and sells needed in a time where the market will be volatile because of Covid. I dont think JM will get the job done either, in spite of his resume. TBH he looks like he's phoning it in since we hired him and he never lasts more than 3 years. We will lose money without European footy and finally I think Kane is off and lets face it we built the team around him the last 6 seasons. In his last few months Poch spoke often of a "painful rebuild" and here we are a year later having done little of that painful work.

It’s not hard to solidify a defence if you sacrifice any semblance of attacking impetus. Really, Pulis, Allardyce, Moyes, this is what these guys do. Meat and potatoes management and Jose is trying to sell us magic beans like he’s working a miracle at the moment. It’s horseshit.

COuld we come back:

current players current manager - no fucking way

change a lot of the players - jose system . we'll get back into europa or cl place# with the odd trophy or two (two years to sort) - shitty football

change the manager - with right choice (Allegri etc) but still need a new back line.. get europa place or cl .. no trophies for a few years but the football will be palatable

Longish post, apologies in advance.

There is absolutely no quick fix. There's no two ways about it. This goes back before Mourinho, before Poch's sacking, to when we made absolutely no movement with refreshing the squad and elected to stand still. Levy, Pochettino, whoever made the final decision to not sign players that we had a chance to, is to blame. We rested on laurels and thought because the side, at the time, was still pretty young that we could just get by and everything would continue while players improved moving into their prime.

That's all obvious at this point, we all know how and why we got here. The question is if Levy is actually the man to get us back to where we need to be? He's done it before, but this time feels different. In the past, in these scenarios, when it was Tim Sherwood's successor or Redknapp/AVB, etc., you're talking about a club that was just hoping to sniff the Top 4 (generally), and so the job didn't feel so daunting. Now, we're a middle table side that is just a year removed from a CL Final, and has consistently been in the Top 4 and has had higher aspirations than just that for 5 years now. A stadium was built to match those expectations as well as a Manager brought in to make sure those things are delivered consistently.

So where to go from here? First, it starts with cutting down the squad, for me. Get rid, and get rid fast. Rid us of the deadweight, we won't need it if there's no European competition next year (there won't be). This is the perfect time to exchange quantity for quality; sell Sissoko, Lamela (/sadface), Moura, Rose, CCV, anyone who is not seen as absolutely a must keep. Be absolutely ruthless, if a great offer for Winks/Alli, etc. comes in, entertain it.

Start building up a Youth Academy that needs an injection of talent. We absolutely need to restore the foundation at our club as one with an incredibly deep and talented academy. Just feels like we have lost sight of that a little bit, despite all the money pumped into training facilities.

Obviously I'm in the camp of "Bring on Campos." Identify young, high-upside/quality talent that is ready to come in contribute. Campos' specialty, but it's a way to really bring excitement back. In my opinion, there's no better way to get supporters excited again than to see a young, energetic side, one you can believe in for the future. Simply put, focus on youth while supplementing with our proven players.

I think we are realistically a couple years away from challenging for Top 4 again. The time is now to get back to basics, strip down the squad for extra cash while removing players that simply are earning too much and still have some semblance of value, and get this club looking attractive again for the next manager. We really need to change the makeup of the squad, as well as the club in general, so that if we can make a move for Nagelsmann (or any other manager seen as a Pochettino-type appointment), we look incredibly promising and built for the future.

Football moves quickly. Only 12 months ago United were a joke, Woodward incompetent, Ole a foolish pick, and now they’re playing flowing football and have one of the most exciting young forward lines in Europe.

So, it’s possible to turn things around. But United had money to spend on Maguire and Fernandes, and they had a plan. Build a young English spine, play with extreme pace on the counter.

At the moment we don’t seem to have any vision or plan, and it doesn’t seem that we have any money to spend, so it looks a long, long way back.

A win on Sunday and loads of people complaining will stop.

If you have been around spurs Internet forums long enough you will know that the anti levy sentiment is always there in the background waiting to bubble over. Same as whatever manager we have. I always think for example if mourinho wasn't good enough after Sheffield utd he still isnt upto it by scraping a 1-0 at home against a stale everton side.

But thats football fans. Were all too emotional and invest far too much into what now if were honest is just a corporation that takes advantage of our love for whatever personal things the club means to us.

A sport built on tribalism is always going to have people emotionally invested. So whilst levy can be the villan today , if he buys a couple of fancy players in the summer most will forget.

Big player overhaul needed.

Players to keep after 2 year rebuild: Lloris, Gazzaniga, Sanchez, Tanganga, Cirkin, Skipp, Ndombele, Winks, Lo Celso, Sessegnon, Bergwijn, Son, Kane

Maybe players: Toby, Foyth, Lucas, Gedson, Davies, Jack Clarke

Players to go (not good enough or worth more in fees than performance): Jan, Lamela, Vorm, Dier, Sissoko, Alli, Aurier, KWP, CCV, Rose

First team signings needed over next two years: Rb, Cb, Lb, Dm, Wf, Cf

Right back and Dm priorities. Then Cf and Cb.

Most importantly for the culture, we need to get rid of the considerable deadwood. There’s at least 115m in fees to be recouped there. That’s enough to bring in the 4 key positions required.

Regarding the playing side.

The scum looked a totally broken and abject squad a couple of month's ago and they still have huge problems but arteta has turned them into a very well drilled dangerous side.

You may think we have problems they on paper at least have more.

Shows what a progressive manager can do i think.

Agree on the whole, think Dier should be kept though. Like him at centre back and think he has the character we need moving forward.

Alli won't be going anywhere as nobody will bid what we want for him.
