In 2010 we announced our shirt deal with Autonomy and when we announced it we were punching well above our weight.

Sponsor league table 2010
1. Barcelona £25mill Qatar
2. Bayern Munich £23.6mill Deutsche telekom
3. Manchester United £20mill Aon
4. Liverpool £20mill Chartered Bank
5. Real Madrid £16.8mill Bwin
6. Tottenham min £12.5mill rumoured to go up to £20mill depending on performances, Autonomy/Investec
7. Chelsea £10mill Samsung
8. AC Milan £10mill Emirates
9. Man City £7.5mill Etihad
10. Juventus £6.7mill Betclic
(Arsenal £5mill)

Since then the sponsorship game has gone crazy with manchester united literally making game change moves and making Man Utd's brand stronger, they are sponsored by like 60 different companies in Vietnam to the US.

Sponsor league table today PL
1. Man Utd £20mill Aon + £20mill in training kit/ground and friendly kit deal + Cheverolet deal £11mill*
2. Liverpool £20mill Chartered Bank
2. Man City £20mill Etihad
2. Sunderland £20mill Invest in Africa
5. Chelsea £18mill Samsung(agreed after Sunderland),
6. Tottenham Min. £15mill Aurasma Investec
7. Newcastle Max. £10mill Virgin replaced by Wonga £6mill
(Arsenal £30mill stadium shirt deal)
*will pay £44.75mill when taking over as main sponsors(interesting the guy who made the deal was sacked apparently)

Shirt deals
1. Chelsea £30mill Adidas kit deal(10 years)
2. Liverpool £25mill Warrior deal
3. Manchester United £19.2mill Nike deal (near the end of 15 year deal)
4. Man City £12mill Nike deal
5. Tottenham £10mill Under Armour
6. Arsenal £7.8mill Nike, £30mill Puma (5 year deal, starting 2014)

I thought i make this thread after clubs around us have been announcing their new big deals. Then these stats made me think how much is Bale worth to us and Perez said if Bale signed for a world record fee he would pay for himself with the increased revenue as shown before with the likes of figo, Beckham, ronaldo and etc.

If we want to compete with the teams around us financially we need to keep the likes of bale to build our brand and adding the likes of Paulinho, Villa and etc. will only increase our appeal to the big sponsors!

Also arsenal are said to be spending big this season and their increase in at least £50million for sponsors next season, is probably a big factor as to why. Someone said there might be a announcement this week, lets be hope we can compete with those around us.

Doesn't bode well. They lost a heap of money buying Autonomy. The fact we have ties with them already could mean that there wasn't much new interest.
Alternatively, HP may have looked at what our association with them did for Autonomy, seen our value, and offered a better deal than anybody else. With the amounts being paid out to sponsor Premier League clubs, and with us being one of the most attractive to potential sponsors, I find it difficult to believe that there was only one bidder.

Are you referring to Edward Freedman (Commercial Manager under Scholar) or did you have somebody else in mind? If somebody else, what 'game change moves' has he made?

The figures for Arse and Chelsea are both 30mill but for 5 and 10 years respectively - is that money spread over the term or per year? If it's over the term then Arse have done really well.

Sadly all figures are per year and the reason I put those figures with the contract length on it was because frankly that was a amazing deal potentially as in 4 years they will renegotiate, though it could be sad if both teams go shit a long term deal would be better. Worth remembering that the puma deal with us, 2 years back was less than £8million, I think £5million iirc

They lost some money, but not a business-damaging amount.

HP are a multi-billion dollar turnover company - a few tens of millions to us in a sponsorship deal is peanuts. They spend more than $10m on tv advertising in the US every month.
