Thought I'd show some love to Curtis Jones. One of the positives out of yesterday's game. Always been a fan of his and had my doubts about him coming through as you can see below, but he looked like on of their best players yesterday. Hope he keeps this up.

Also, despite by pessimism a few of the other players mentioned below also have seen quite a bit of game time. L

Glad I can help sadly, none of these guys are actually coming through though, so I know I'm looking foolish I just hope you don't too.

There are a lot to get excited about, the problem as ever is stuck in clubs where even the best won't get a chance. Of course Sancho is quality, and I have always really liked Hudson-Odoi. There are plenty of slick wingers stuck at City who, if scattered across other clubs, might actually come through and get chances, but sadly, while they are battling with each other, they are then behind Foden and Diaz, and were behind Sancho, and they are all behind any winger City choose to sign for their first team anyway.

One winger I've mentioned that City have who has also suffered an injury is Taylor Richards and I bet he is wondering what might have happened if he just stayed at Fulham, and Poveda went there from Brentford and won POTT in the recent u18 tournament that England played in, which shows the depth of the age group that none of their 'best' players were there and we still had the best player.. Curtis Jones at Liverpool is also a very exciting and skilful player who I think stands a decent chance of coming through at Liverpool but no doubt his break through will be dependent on injuries.

These are all exciting players, who were they to come through elsewhere, whether that be abroad or the EFL, would stand a great chance of ending up at a top club, but tbh I wouldn't be surprised to see every player mentioned in this post including Foden to play a combined 500mins of PL over the next 2 years.

For us, Skipp is as good a choice as any to get into the first team, due to his low risk style, work rate and ability. But outside of Edwards, other than Shashoua, I can't see any attacking players coming through anytime soon now. I'm still really looking forward to KWP and Onomah getting proper chances, and hope if they do get them they manager to show what they can do.

I don't know too much about the world football other than what I read and when I see us play against teams from abroad.

I thought he was their best player. Annoyingly. Great for England though.

Ye. He's a proper footballer. If he fulfills his potential he'll be dangerous.

His England age group had some real stars but I felt like they never really.played together much.

But if Duncan didn't get ruined Jones Greenwood, Duncan and at the time I didnt really consider Saka that great but as a front 4 that is a lot of talent. Their weakness was their defence.

They had some good CMs but their standout was their attack. Its be a fair argument that it could compete with the 00s attack but 00s whole team was almost on a level with each other. And had a lot more depth.

Not for everyone this but he does bring up a few people who he worked with at Spurs, this is more about what it takes to be a coach and not him talking about his past so some might find it a bit boring.

Just want to give a Bellingham shoutout. I said at the start of the year he's England's most talented CM and I would take him to the Euros but a few people I spoke to said it was too early. Maybe it still is, but there is no doubt in my mind that he is still performing much better than any other CM we have. He may not be fully battle hardened and could make errors but he is playing regular CL football to a high standard.

I'd definitely have him alongside Rice (Skipp in future) as he will be able to actually get the ball to the attackers, moreso than Henderson and our other options, and he has enough tackling ability and experience in senior football to not get run over.

And as I have said multiple times, England's weakness in central midfield is not due to a lack of talent in academies but due to a lack of trust and progression in their play. RLC, Onomah, TOB, Kirby, Slattery, O'Reilly were all players of a similar level of talent to Bellingham, but he's been the only one of that level of ability to come through the EFL, and so had his chance and continued on an upward trajectory of development

It's why a player like Maddison who is not top tier but very good, has done well and is considered one of the best CM options we have. A good player as a youngster comes through the EPL with continuous progression is doing well, but he is still clearly not as talented as Bellingham. Imagine if we had CM options with the talent of Foden, Sancho, Jones, Greenwood, Hudson-Odoi come through, they would be a lot better than what Maddison is. They would be to Maddison what Jarrod Bowen is to the wingers we have. Yet if we didn't have them Bowen would be a good back up. It's why the wingers we previously used to talk about were Redmond, Gray etc as we struggled to bring any decent ones through.

In fact the only AM that came through one of the top clubs was Lingard who was an unspectacular player on a similar to level to Winks and all the CM types we produce. Now we can see what trust in the wingers can lead to. Pritchard was another talented one but suffered injuries. Once managers start to trust our CMs we will have a real national team, until then we will have to wait until EFL clubs can produce the talent that is more commonly found at the best academies and bring them through as they've done with Bellingham.

We may have missed out on a lot of CM in the past, but as much as I've been sceptical the good wingers, strikers and full backs are coming through so you'd hope we can start seeing those players in the heart of th team come through, and have real options there above the likes, of Longstaff, Davies, Winks and Henderson

I saw a bit of the game last night and he didn’t look out of place. Big lad too isn’t he. I wonder how many times Southgate has watched him live though.

watched az vs psv earlier once madueke came on and he looks so strong and accomplished, didn't score or anything but he's turning into a seriously impressive player. hopefully we're keeping tabs on him as i would hate to see him come back to england but to another side, he's the kind of talent that leicester would pick up and everyone will be going why can't we find players like that. if sancho leaves dortmund in the summer then they could be an option too as he fits their profile perfectly. it's annoying that we lost him but he wouldn't be the player he is currently had he stayed.

If Gareth persists with 3-4-3 as it looks like he will. We then normally have 7 defenders , will be Rice and , if fit Henderson in midfield with 3 attackers..usually Kane Sterling and Rashford.
Sterling not been brilliant recently and Rashford carrying a back problem.
So possibly Foden or Grealish or both either side of Kane. Mount deserves to be in that team but I have no doubt he will go with experience.
We could actually start with 8 of our World Cup team.

If you get a moment tune into the last half hour of the youth cup final on BT. Better football than we’ve watched all season.

Right then, following Marty’s advice in the England thread, I’ve found this one to discuss the U20 championship in Argentina so I hope it’s the right one.

Alfie Devine scored an important goal last night in England’s 3-2 win over Uruguay (bet he didn’t get a ‘congrats’ from Bentancur for that), following Dane Scarlett’s winner against Tunisia.

No interest, then? Penalty to France in the 86th minute, scored, so it looks like our lads are out.
