I personally think it is odd that the likes of Celtic can slide into this at this stage.

I'm in two minds about it, really. One the down side, it does feel like a cheapening of the Europa League, but on the up side it gives Champions of their domestic leagues a better shot at actually playing in Europe now that the CL is so much more of a closed shop than it used to be.

Regardless, I can see both the Glaswegian sides making it through, they could both have got far worse opposition.

Wolves v Torino will be a cracker.

After the first leg, I can see Rangers getting knocked out. Very fortunate not to be losing by 2-3 goals

Wolves looked good from the highlights I saw last night. A 3-2 win away at Torino is a good result, should see them through.

With the 2nd legs of qualifiers next week there will finally be 21 teams going through to the
Europa Cup 'proper'
.
Some will have played six games or more to get thus far.
.
So next Thursday's fixtures will mean heartbreak for some..

As the draw hound I am I'm watching the EL draw. Celtic meet Lazio and Arsenal have got Frankfurt. Good ties, tricky fixture for Arse.

Copenhagen vs Malmö is actually as much of a local derby as you can get between two countries. The two cities are only seperated by a bridge.

British groups are:

F: Arsenal, Frankfurt, Standard, Vitoria

L: Man United, Astana, Partizan, Alkmaar

K: Wolves, Besiktas, Braga, Bratislava

E: Celtic, Lazio, Rennes, Cluj

G: Rangers, Porto, Young Boys, Feyenoord

Arsenal will be challenged there, no walkovers. United have two long trips but it should be easy enough. Wolves have a very tight and even group.

How can Group K contain 2 Portuguese teams?

Looks like they are up against real teams as opposed to playing teams comprised of goat herders, postmen, dentists and fishermen.
