I never understood why we don’t sell with a buy back clause like Real do on all their youth, or at least sell with first right of refusal and/sell on percentage giving us a big advantage if we buy them back.

Bar Crouch, I can’t remember us letting a young player go and them having any sort of career that has proved our decision to be the wrong one or gone onto the kind of level where we’d want them back.

Was more both their decision but. Beckham and Souness. Allegedly Beckham made up his mind when speaking to venables and Terry had to ask him his name, which Beckham thought negatively about. Souness was about getting game time and this was the time of ossie and hoddle. Went to Middlesbrough if I remember.

My point was in regards to @Locotoro questioning why we never negotiate buyback clauses when selling any of our acadamy players...

Both Beckham and Walker trained with us as kids, neither signed pro and left at 13 and 16 respectively. Very different points, as they chose to sign for other clubs instead of us, we didn’t sell them as young pro’s.

Souness was I’m sure, before buyback clauses were ‘a thing’.

It's a fair point historically however now we seem to be seeing more quality come through the youth setup and potentially more players that we'll have to let go it would be a smart move on our part to do so. Imagine Onomah being sold to a Huddersfield and after a season really developing into a great player and then us being able to resign him for an increased sum albeit much less than his market value. Good business sense

So how are Ipswich playing? Edwards move to Norwich looks good as they seem to play football and traditionally Ipswich have been a footballing side ... but I am out of touch so would appreciate from those who know

Ipswich's football has been a bit hoofball over the last few years at times, but they've been playing some nice attacking stuff this season, with quick wingers and two up front. Lots of young players have gotten a chance as well, which is definitely a good sign for Cameron.

They are 6 spots, and 4 point behind Sheffield United, and have conceded 8 more goals - so hopefully they are looking for someone to come in and help...

Their centreback Tommy Smith just left the club, so its likely Carter-Vickers is his replacement; that does mean he'll be getting good playing time.

Started and played the full 90 in a 1-1 draw. Manager said he 'did well.' Hopefully CCV continues to play and contribute.

that was last week, yesterday they won 2-0 at sunderland - ccv again played the 90.

from twitter:

"Strong defensive performance by Cameron Carter-Vickers for Ipswich in their 2-0 win vs Sunderland: 6 clearances, 5 interceptions, 2 tackles, 1 block, 8 aerials won, 13/17 duels won."

played 90 mins again yesterday.

so far he's played in four games and they've only conceded two, obviously that's not just down to him but it seems he's had a good start. struggling to find much about him on their forum though, which might be a good thing as it's basically all doom and gloom over there.
