It's a good selection. Jose going for height and more defensive assurance.

It's not planning for Thursday either, its picking the best eleven to get the job done tonight.

Lloris

Aurier - Toby - Dier (if fit, if not, Rodon) - Davies

Hojbjerg - Sissoko

-Ndombele

Lucas-Kane-Son

Think Dier will be an absolute must in the air. I really hope he is fit. Wood is not the player you throw a Davies-Toby CB pairing up against.

Believe it or not I actually like Sissoko as a starter, with Gio to come on in his place second half. He's good in matches like these.

Lol, I called this to a T (except Doherty over Aurier which, toss-up at this point)

I fear we may be playing a bit too much to Burnley's strengths here instead of just trying to pass around them like a proper top team. Sissoko and Lucas particularly can be awful against a parked bus. That said we should have enough to cope.

That's a good side for this game.

Honestly feel more confident with Sanchez out of the side for this one.

Would of preferred Lamela to start though.

This is the type of game where you could really see Sanchez possibly being bullied, by either one of Burnely's two forwards starting.

He’s picked a team to defend aerially. Doherty and Davies better in the air than Aurier and Reguilón. Dier and Toby at CB with Rodon on the bench. Even Moura is a strong competitor aerially, although if Bale was 100% fit he’d probably have started.

Going forward yeah. Defensively not so much. That's not a slight on Rodon, but it's a serious lack of experience from a defensive stand point.
You reckon? I wouldn’t say “serious” lack. Maybe not tried and tested at the very highest level but it’s a Spanish international left back and Wales’ first choice centre half to call on.

Stevie is injured, maybe? He rested on the bench thursday, so its a little strange that he didnt even made the bench today

Makes sense. Doherty and Aurier is a toss up. Dier automatic starter when fit, and Sanchez played Thursday and last Sunday. Sissoko as gio not quite there yet fitness wise, winks played Thursday, and dele well it's becoming a recurring theme. Lucas rewarded for his great game on Thursday, bale also not quite there yet fitness wise, Lamela played Thursday after recovering from an injury. Kane son obvious. Only question is Stevie. He got a full rest Thursday and I expected him to start. Not even in the squad which is worrying.

Jose saying some strikers have to score or their contribution is not big, unlike Harry. I immediately think of Aubameyang.

This is a must win match against a team that will sit back and defend. The Europa games can be won with massive rotation, but in the league, the best players should be playing (especially when you've dropped 4 points in matches you should've won). Are Davies, Doherty, Sissoko, and Lucas the best four players at their position in the squad? One of Lo Celso or Lamela should have started this match to give the attack more energy and provide another outlet for ball retention. We'll still win, but hopefully Mourinho finds his best XI after the next international break.

We are like Klopps early Liverpool team. World beaters going forward and panel beaters at the back.

It will be an inter-racial bukkake party out there .

And to all the people who liked that post. I know how how you know what a bukkake party is. More than once you've had a "live jasmine" tab open inadvertently on your browser. You dirty little slags.

We have great depth but we're bloated in certain positions. We could probably do with selling one of Dele, Lucas or Lamela and bringing in a top CB (though I'm not even sure they exist outside of VVD anymore).

Don't love that line up but should be good enough. Was hoping for Lo Celso and Reguilon but expect both will come on and have an impact. Such a ridiculous bench.

Interesting that Rodon is on the bench ahead of Sanchez too... is he injured?

Sanchez is shit in the air and is having a stink at the moment, so probably was a wise decision to leave him out of this one
