I've got a sneaky feeling that we're still not totally out of this.
My sneaky feelings are usually wrong though!

Jose/Levy getting Mendes involved to swing this in our favour? Wouldn't surprise me, but the ITK seem to think it's very unlikely so not getting my hopes up.

Under Sugar we signed possibly the best striker in the world in Klinsmann and two stars of the World Cup that year in Popescu and Dumi. All in ONE window. ENIC have remodelled the club for their own gain - every penny for the stadium is either debt against the club or paid for out of profits generated. ENIC have not backed the club at all. It’s now a great asset to sell.

That’s what I mean by the last 20 years but if you want to admire a great business it is then go for it, but I’m more interested in the football club aspect.
What did Sugar do with the club? Oh, yeah, he sold it. Have ENIC sold us? Are they entertaining bids? Have they not just spent over 60 million on a single player? Not to mention a BILLION pounds on a stadium and training ground? Did they not buy one of the greatest CMs in the world for quite a sum in Modric? Did they not invest 10 million (huge at the time) in one of the greatest LWs on earth in Bale? Did they not close to 7 times their money on them both? Did they not put us into the top ten of European clubs without CL which made it possible to sign such players as Barbatov? Did they not just hire the most accomplished manager in Europe?

How is it that when we achieve success it's got nothing to do ENIC, but when we falter it's SOLELY their fault?
I give up...

Comparing what Sugar did for us and the transformation that has taken place under ENIC is ridiculous. We can thank Sugar for stopping us going under, but not a lot else.

I don't think anyone is ungrateful for how we've progressed under Levy, but let's be perfectly clear, ENIC have not paid for anything apart from their initial investment, they haven't paid for the stadium and they haven't plowed cash into the club for player purchases.

Surely this ship has sailed. We just don't have the $$$ to compete. Which is a shame. As I think he'd be awesome for us. Well, awesome for two years, until Barca come in and offer 150M!!

(My opinion) we f**ked around with this in the summer after having him here for a medical.. glc signed on; we dropped BF. Will he want to come again ? Possibly... but at the January price quoted? Who knows.

What did he say mate?

Basically United and Sporting are talking, Sporting want a big fee and Rojo, Rojo wants to go to a turkish club. Also many agents don't want to work with Sporting and makes it difficult for Bruno, but now a big agent (probably Mendes) is invloved. Didn't mention spurs though

That's because up until 2002 it was one massive fucking window that'd been open for over 100 years

I think this ship has sailed chaps. Man Utd will offer something stupid to get their man. What do they say about Woodward, he spends lots of time negotiating but is so bad at it that he just ends up paying what the other team want in the end. That’s what will happen.

No idea if he’s any good. All in know is that a lot of his goals seem to be from long distance. He won’t get that time on the ball in the PL and also the amount of long distance goals are decreasing g due to the changing nature of the game in this country. So his prime asset might not even be able to be used!

I think they have chucked a few more tens of millions in via share issues over the years as well. But, really, the only top teams that have owners that have ploughed their own money in to buy things the club otherwise wouldn't have been able to afford are Man City and Chelsea* - and technically Chelsea actually owe Abramovich over £1bn - so I don't think we can really be feeling hard done by.

*Maybe Leicester as well. I have some recollection that next time they get relegated they'll start on negative points due to breaking Championship FFP rules in order to get promoted.

I saw something that it was 14mil for the image rights. That’s peanuts to get a player in like that if you really want him.
Thats 70 M for the player, 14m for the image right and then another 15m for the agent, I think that was the problem if I was guessing 30m fees

Sugar only signed Klinsmann, Popescu and Dumitrescu because the club were facing a 12 point deduction in the league for paying bungs to sign players like Teddy Sheringham.
