Wilder said his ring walk costume was way to heavy and his legs were shot before the fight even started.

That's a new one lol

What's the betting that next fight Wilder will come to the ring in just trunks and a robe, Fury comes out wearing a full diving suit, dragging a tractor with his ballsack or something? If I was Wilder I'd stop giving him ammo and focus on figuring out how he managed to totally boss me like nobody else had.

looks as though Wilder is taking up the rematch option.
Surely he’ll take the rematch then? Even more embarrassing to come out with this and not take the rematch.

yep, looks like he will.

i’m disappointed. for me, its over now. Fury mauled him. the rematch was so anticipated because of the draw last time. this time - meh.

i wanted it to move on.

The more clips I watch of this fight, the more it's obvious that Tyson would absolutely monster AJ right now. I don't know if Joshua's got the temperament to beat him anyway - he's a superb boxer but watching the show that Fury put on the other night, it was smart, he didn't look tired, he absolutely controlled every inch of the ring, stuck to the plan of making Wilder carry him around at points - it was as much a tactical beat down as a physical one.

I know that there's a lot of pundits coming out now saying that Wilder's technique has always been a concern, relying on that one lumping punch to end fights, but until Fury it's worked for him. It took someone to outsmart him, not out punch him.

I don’t think he can monster Joshua. Joshua won’t be pushed around and manhandled, he’s also got a much better ring craft than Wilder has and is a better boxer. He can certainly beat Joshua, similar to how he beat Wlad ( assuming Joshua would be happy to engage in a nip and tuck distance fight ) or maybe he’d outlast him in a war of attrition?

Joshua isn’t a pumped up 16 odd stone man with spindly legs. Wilder got away with relying on his punch for years because of the opposition he faced to be fair. Hardly a who’s who of heavyweight beasts. His best win is over grandad Ortiz, himself overrated ( never beaten anyone of note ) and past his best. Remember, Wilder was getting outboxed by Gerald Washington not so long ago.

Having said all that I’d still favour Fury over Joshua, slightly. If Fury had top class power I’d favour him handsomely.

It’s a shame for everyone else but makes sense for Deontay. His confidence will be shot. Why run the risk of fighting someone else for £1m and losing ( Ruiz jnr was being rumoured, Ruiz jnr is all wrong for Deontay ) when he can have one last attempt at landing his big punch v Fury for £10m odd and call it a day?

Still, any rematch has to happen by June I believe. So not all that long really

I think Fury beats him, but Joshua is stylistically more of a problem for Fury than Wilder. AJ can bang and box - Olympic gold medalist etc.

Actually, I'm going to go against the grain, change my mind and say I think Joshua will beat him. When they eventually fight, I will either be the visionary that called it - or wrong.

It’s potentilaly a great fight with a couple of variables. Could see it needing a rematch etc

Just hope we see it and wankers like Hearn and Warren don’t do their best to balls it up. Already seen video of Warren saying Fury needs a 70/30 split for it to happen...

I don’t think it will happen. All the excuses will be made but Fury will be left free to fight Joshua.

If that fight was left to go on, Wilder would probably have been left in a coma as Fury doesn’t have the bang to knock him out with one punch so would have continued to accumulate he heavy damage.

I don’t think it’ll be next though. I think it’ll be Joshua - Pulev at The Lane and the rematch, with Fury v Joshua being made for late in the year, November perhaps. Ideally Cardiff, but probably Saudi

Definitely feels like one final cash grab from Wilder. He was lucky to get away with a draw in the first one and was soundly beaten in the second so why would you want to fight him again for a third time? He knows this is probably his big final pay day and possible his last ever shot at any belt. Hopefully Fury's camp insists on extensive drug tests as it feels desperate from Wilder.

As for AJ/Fury, it would be incredible if it happened and even more so if happens in the UK but I think the latter is unlikely as the money offered for this in Saudi would be astronomical, probably the biggest bid in boxing history. I don't think either of them are particularly motivated by money but Tyson has already made noises about having 2/3 more fights and bowing out at the top so he probably feels he owes it his family to go where the money is if this fight is made.

talk today Wilder may be offered, and after, some ‘go away’ money to give up his rematch option. thing is, Fury will also have to face his mandatory at some point, so not much chance he could do Wilder, mandatory, and Joshua this year.

I think people are perhaps hyping Fury a little too much. Wilder may have the most ferocious right hand in the history of boxing but that covers up the fact that his actual boxing skills are extremely limited. He was comprehensively outboxed by Luiz Ortiz in his previous fight before he landed the equaliser in the 7th round.

I think AJ is very glad Fury won. I don't think AJ has the chin or mobility to avoid Wilder's bombs but he has a much better chance against Fury. Fury has been floored by far lesser punchers than AJ. It might be said that if Fury can survive being hit by Wilder he can take AJ's punches with ease but how often did Wilder actually land a clean shot on Fury. AJ is a far better boxer than Deontay so I give him a puncher's chance. It will be interesting to see the odds.

Fair points. I always thought Joshua would get to Wilder first personally, and take him out in fashion. Wilder telegraphs everything and Needs time to land against anyone half decent. Joshua has more variety and is a better boxer so I’d back him to land first out of the two. Would have been something of a shootout although Joshua can certainly box enough to have Wilder chasing shadows to a degree.

I agree that AJ would have got Wilder out there quickly. I also think that Whyte would have done a job on him as well tbh.
Not totally dismissing Wilder or the great performance from Fury but AJ and Fury are levels above Wilder
