I don't wanna see a third fight but he'll take it, he'd be stupid not to.
Even if he sees it as a final payday, the money will be huge.
Yeah apparently it’s a 60/40 split for the 3rd but 30 days isn’t long to get over that.

What was the split last night? I read that Fury got around £30m for it.
The money is absurd.

As I said even if Wilder knows that Fury has his number, I'd take the fight then fuck off for good.

Cannot argue with stats like this, he beat both Champions in their own backward also.

He is the best heavyweight of a generation

Keep reading about Deontay wanting “To go out on his shield”. What a fucking stupid idea that is, it’s how people die or end up with life changing injuries. He was broken, beaten and there wasn’t much coming back, he had to be pulled, end of really.

He’ll realise his corner did him a favour after a bit of time, I imagine. Was refreshing for me to see them save him further punishment as it was only going one way.

It's stupid to the observer, but the guys a fighter. A champion. Any top athlete is in it to win it and Deontay was fighting with heart and pride. If he had landed a lucky KO it would have been the type of boxing blockbuster we'd celebrate for his blood and guts performance.

But I fully agree in these situations that the decision is taken out their fighters hands to protect them. It was ridiculously one sided and they could habe thrown in the towel much earlier.

AJ and Fury will be a cracker if we ever get to see it. I just hope it happens right now whilst both are coming off a high and in the peak of their careers.

The strange thing was that they didn't do it earlier. The 7th round when they finally did it he was actually starting to throw right hands again, and that was his only lotto ticket at that point. The previous 5 rounds he hadn't offered anything.

The guys a fighter is an absolutely shite excuse though. He was being beaten up, had no answer, so his corner pulled him. Better than not going home to his kids.

I’ve read people saying it was stopped too early, but I totally disagree if it wasn’t for a questionable bit of refereeing it would of been finished in the 5th

Hoping for no rematch

Joshua v, Pulev
Fury v. White in the summer and then hopefully Joshua v. Fury in London at end of year.

All punchers eventually come up against someone who can either take their power or avoid it. Boxing is fascinating because of it too, love it.

True but not all punchers are that one dimensional. For example, I have little doubt that in a one single punch experiment, Lennox Lewis hits just as hard as Deontay Wilder, but, he can also box better than Tyson Fury could ever dream of doing.

Basically I’m saying, despite the hyperbole that’s coming from last night, truly great heavyweight boxers don’t have draws against Wilder or razor thin wins over Wlad, who’d already been smashed three times at that point, on their record.

Yep 100%

But, Wlad wasn’t quite the great some paint him to b. Purity, Sanders and Brewster had already beat him more convincingly that Fury did, and Wilder was unbelievably flawed.

Sure, it’s not Fury’s fault he’s operating in a weak era, but when people compare him to Lewis it’s an insult

Michael Grant would have beat Wilder. Genuinely

Not sure about that. Lewis was a great but he got knocked out against Oliver Mccall, almost lost to Bruno and lost to Rahman.

There's too much focus in the modern era on 100% records. Great boxers can lose for a number of reasons but get judged on their full career.

Of course all it takes is an off night. McCall would have splattered Wilder, 100%. He wouldn’t make a dent in McCall and basically that’s him done.

Lewis didn’t almost lose to Bruno, he was struggling with him but wasn’t close to defeat. Rahman? Great punch. Outstanding, in the rematch? I don’t think any heavyweight in history beats Lewis on that night.

I couldn’t care less for undefeated records personally, means nothing to me. I thought Lewis drew with Mercer and I know for a fact Fury lost by a distance to John McDermott in their first fight too. In my eyes, Fury isn’t undefeated. He lost by at least two round that night, probably as many as 6 rounds. Doesn’t mean a thing.

Agree on the one dimensional aspect but part of wlad going unbeaten for so long was the fact he got sparked and actually learned to use his assets to win cautiously (that and several padded record fighters) ? Lewis has great and poor nights like all fighters even Ali was shit against Norton what’s the adage? “Styles make fights” one of the truer sayings in boxing imo

I think respective teams do too much to try and protect that undefeated status - to an extent i buy it but ultimately if you're not putting that on the line against the best then it's just for show. We've watched the heavyweight division get hyped for ages with all the best fighters dodging each other to build the pot and keep their zero losses but for me the hype is meaningless if you're not seeing the best, bring it against the best.

Interestingly, i think Joshua stands a better chance of becoming a top heavyweight (although i don't hold out much hope of him becoming 'great') after losing to Ruiz Jr.

Fury, for all his flaws is game to fight anyone, home or away, i think that's commendable. I agree regarding your point on speculative wins, judges calls though. Ultimately i don't think Fury cares anymore as to whether he remains undefeated on paper or not. His time away seems to have galvanised him - he's in it for belts and glory now and he's got his mindset focused on what it takes to win. FWIW i think he's got the best all-round game in the division.

Dominant fight and will no doubt be a 3rd - Wilder will need to change up (if he can though), as he was just severely schooled.

despite the spam rating, appears to be confirmed there was no burst eardrum. it was a cut.....

While i'm fully prepared to believe that there was a cut, I doubt any camp would come out admit a burst eardrum, it's a potential career ender. I mean, it's just as likely it's been bruised or stressed, you can't exercise your eardrum in the gym so no shame in that injury but it is the sort of thing that a Vegas fighter doesn't want deterring bets.

The more clips I watch of this fight, the more it's obvious that Tyson would absolutely monster AJ right now. I don't know if Joshua's got the temperament to beat him anyway - he's a superb boxer but watching the show that Fury put on the other night, it was smart, he didn't look tired, he absolutely controlled every inch of the ring, stuck to the plan of making Wilder carry him around at points - it was as much a tactical beat down as a physical one.

I know that there's a lot of pundits coming out now saying that Wilder's technique has always been a concern, relying on that one lumping punch to end fights, but until Fury it's worked for him. It took someone to outsmart him, not out punch him.
