Always a delight with a last gasp winner, but can’t get used to Mourinho’s tactics. We’re getting dominated by EVERYONE.

I think with their first goal and the general calamity that was every corner we defended, we have to assume the high winds were a factor today.

So fed. Up. With son, never passes always tries to do it by himself amd been shit for ages. Same for moura. We need someone to hold the ball up, we are Playing with 4 no10,s
Got to disagree, I think Son feels too obligated in filling in for Kane, Kane his pressing, style of play and Goal scoring is very unique to Kane, Son has his own style and needs to stick to it, while trying to fulfil the centre forward position that he Moura and Ali have been rotating in. Thought Moura was much better today than in previous games, very determined to use his pace and skills.

I'm now watching the game as been at work but I sneakily saw first 15min. 4 stand out seriously wtf moments.
Aurier, first foul on edge of box when the ball is on the oyher side of the pitch. You fkin twat.
Aurier, second foul 10 secs after the first one. Seriously guy wtf are you trying to do here?
Dier, no pressure sjicide pass straight to a Villa player halfway inside our half. Are you fkin blind? Did you not see him?
And finally the first Villa goal. Blaming Lloris for this one. Started to come and should have but stopped and left Alderweireld up shit creek. Toby still should have dealt with it better but it was a calamitous fk up between them.
That was all in first 10min!

Yeah, great.

That explains why my feckin burger took so feckin long.

Just about deserved to win. Draw would have been fair too.

Defensively in the first half we so poor. Second half we were a lot better. Played some great football at times. I know we miss Kane but I think our players feel more comfortable on the ball as a team rather than having to defend and hit teams on the counter. Hopefully Jose saw that in the second half.

Think the most pleasing thing is is that we didn’t look completely shagged after 60-70 minutes. We looked fresher and better the more the game went on. Looked like we had a little bit of our old fitness levels back and that done is so well for most of Poch’s reign.

If a Klopp or a Guardiola (or a number of younger, more radical managers we could list) had replaced Poch, you would have seen something more by now in terms of how they wanted us to play. It may have been a very incomplete jigsaw puzzle, with just as many mistakes (if not more) but I believe we would be seeing more green shoots by now.
Disagree. Over the last 12 months of Poch we were mostly diabolical in the league, and it was only getting worse. Mourinho has done as Wel as reasonably can be expected in the circumstances.

Posted this after the Saints game

Well that’s what Jose brings to the table - results. And his teams never give the game away. We are still having the Poch hangover - not fluid and not playing with confidence and therefore freedom. But real team spirit (also part of most of the Poch era to be fair to him). But for Jose to keep us in top 4 running, still in the FA Cup - that’s what he does. He is winning games with his substitutions and tactical switches. Some very very good signings as well. Obviously he can’t make us Barcelona in a few months. But real progress in my view. Really looking forward to the Jose era

Gedson can play as a cm as well as out wide.

Yes he can play out wide but that's a waste of his talent. He's a natural box to box CM in a double pivot. Or one of the deeper lying CMs in a 4-3-3. I hope we don't force him to play out wide.

I mean, I'd agree with you but we don't appear to *have* any discernible tactics. I can only assume Harry 'run around a bit' Redknapp is taking the team talk.

Which part are you disliking, lads? Are you saying it WASN’T a shit performance or we weren’t lucky to win? Maybe you didn’t think it was emabareassing to only just beat a team that lie just one point from relegation. If you think any of that you’re delusional!
Did you watch the best team in the league narrowly scrape a 1-0 win against the worst team in the league last night?

Them's the breaks.

Much rather be lucky than good. How many times over the years do we bitch about how jammy other teams are. United won titles by being lucky rather than good ffs. Getting Jose in seems to have moved some universe positivity over and it’s very welcome. We seem touched by the hand of god at the moment haha, I’m sticking money on us winning the champions league.

I agree with this, I know it’s early days, but I expected more of a new shape and style to be apparent by now. Not panicking yet, mind, and at least we’re getting some results.

All our

We could have had him but we were penny pinching.

We missed our chance with Grealish by messing about. We won’t pay what it will take to get him now. Levy won’t allow himself to pay two or three times what he wasn’t willing to pay last time.

That's not what happened. He decided to stay and signed a new contract. Fuck all to do with us or with Levy.

Like, you score 4 we'll score 5, style.
I'm quite sure Jose doesn't want every game being played that way. He's only been here what, 10 weeks or so? This is mostly not his team, he walked into an absolute mess. He knows what he's doing. I think people just repeat what they heard down the pub and make it their opinion. Does Jose like playing boring football? No, he plays the best tactics to go with what's available to him. Right now, we're grinding out wins.
