My uncle (who is Italian and a juve fan) says this guy is pretty good, surprised juve didn’t go for him. Good sign as he watches a lot of bloody games.

My family are Juve fans. We did want him at one point but the Napoli chairman refused to sell to us. He despises us to the point where he's blocking our transfer of our other target Dzeko. Roma want to buy Milik as a replacement if we take Dzeko off them but the Napoli chairmen is refusing to sell Milik to them if it means we get Dzeko. He's looking for options elsewhere hence probably why we're linked.

I'm not too excited about Milik. He's never impressed me much, even if his stats are decent. But hey, he's not coming in to be our star striker and if we reckon he fits the squad then go for it.

Wasn't there ITK on someone who thought of us as a back up choice? I think this is it. Clearly one on the shortlist. Adding Milik (and Skriniar) would top this window off nicely.

Jose has always wanted him, but Ali said the wages are a issue, and if he wants to be a backup. If considering his options are fleeting and changes his terms, there is no reason this wouldn't happen right?

I’m struggling to understand who our first choice striker option has actually been this window. We seem to have looked at so many strikers and not made a move for any of them.

I don't think we necessarily had one first choice striker. We had several and will decide based on best deal, ability etc. We look to sign at the right time for the best fee (doesn't always work, but this window has been a great one for us in this respect).

Milik's options for a new club are diminishing rapidly. He's available. He's definitely up there.

It seems like Mourinho had a list, Levy and Hitchen have done what they do and advised him who on that list is available and interested, and what each one would mean to other targets.

As a crude example, let's say our fullback budget for the window was 45 million. Spending 15 million on Doherty rather than 30 million on Aarons meant we could spend 30 on Reguilon.

As I say, a crude example given that the two deals don't seem to have been related at all, but Mourinho reportedly knew we had a limited budget(1) and was ready to work within it. It's then a case of being creative - "we can get Millik if we don't spend too much early in the window and if his move to Roma doesn't work out and if... but if those don't work out we can still look at Weghorst/Daka/Vinicius if..."

(1) Although there were sunny day funds available for Bale and Reguilon, apparently - who knows how big that pot is?

I think Levy sees an opportunity to get Milik in now and get a slight discount on the fee.
From the various reports and rumours, we have tried to get other strikers, but with only 1.5 weeks left, we need to get someone in soon.
He is proven in a top league, but I wonder how much of a concern the two ACL injuries he's had will be.

He doesnt want to play back up. That’s why this has gone cold. Unless he suddenly changed his mind after Roma collapsed this has no chance of happening.

I believe our 1st choice was always Ings.

However, not sure if that was from Jose or the club.

He is extremely unlikely now.

Newcastle have been linked with him today I notice. I assume, if that’s true, that Bruce would play him in a two up top as clearly he wouldn’t be any more keen in going there as a backup.

Feels like this one might be falling into our lap, club seem desperate to sell, last year of his contract, if we get a sniff he wants to come can see Levy getting a very good deal here!

Under two weeks to go for Napoli to stand a chance of getting an ok fee, otherwise they’re in Eriksen territory in January where it becomes a case of sell him for peanuts or he’ll agree a pre contract elsewhere. If anything the Leyton Orient situation will have helped us as now we likely only have 4 fixtures before the deadline (assuming a win in North Macedonia) so we aren’t in a desperate situation that Napoli could leverage. Only hitch is if a more appealing club is thinking the same way, but I’m not sure who would go for him that represents a better option than us at this stage.

This being back up option, as long as its from the list of identified targets (with Jose), Levy will go for the most value signings. Milik being on last year of contract was always going to be on the cards. But he didnt want to join us and didnt have us as first preference. If he now comes around, Levy can do the milking on a value deal with Napoli president.

For me, CB is more important. If it means by going for a value striker , we can save enough money for Ruben Dias then so be it.
c/f is more important as kane cannot play every game davies can cover c/b and tanganga when fit

I am totally with you on this we have all looked on YouTube and thought wow before. Actually without seeing the player himself then all of a sudden he is a great signing. When in reality he is just average.

if kane is out wont matter about defenders because we wont score goals
We've had no problems scoring goals in past when kane was injured. The problem last season was son got injured too. Let's not forget we also have the added bonus this season of Bale.

The milik link could just be Napoli trying to get Roma to increase their offer.

Its not about increasing the offer - Roma already agreed. Milik wanted more salary, yes. But Roma had to move Dzeko to get cash for Milik. With his Juve move stalled , everything is stalled.
