I don't understand why Inter don't just get Rudiger on Loan and we get Skriniar.

Why would Rudiger want to come after last year?

Why would Chelsea give us a centre back?

Why would we want him, when he would be clearly 4th choice?

This just doesn't make sense on a whole host of levels.

Agree with a lot of that, except the bolded bit.

I just wish if we do want him we could sign him rather than loan. The thought of having a current Chelsea player in the squad scares me. Don’t trust that club one iota.

This just doesn't make sense on a whole host of levels.

1 - He may not like a small section of our fans but doesn't mean he hates tottenham as a club or anything like that.

2 -Chelsea need him off their books, he's too expensive an asset to have and not play, especially in this climate and ESPECIALLY when he has such pull with Werner and Havertz that he could eventually be toxic to them. Frank seemingly doesn't like him

3 - He would not be our 4th choice. I legit think quality wise he'd be 1st or 2nd for us. None of our CB's are out and out better than him. Toby was but age has taken him down a peg. Still good, obviously, but not the best.

Smalling incoming???

I'm playing devil's advocate a bit here, but Smalling was better than Skriniar in Serie A last season. Yes, I still believe Skriniar is the better player who was hurt by Conte's tactics, but Smalling was a rock for Roma. Jose worked with him before, prem experience. Now I'm not saying I would want him, but IF we end up signing a CB whose not Skriniar today, Smalling wouldn't be the worst option. Certainly better than Stones.

So, history with us and Rudiger aside, how good is he? I really can’t say I’ve followed him too closely, he was sought after before he signed for Chelsea iirc, I mean surely he’s a decent enough signing for our squad?

Well, I mean he must be half decent, as he's still a German international, despite the abundance of decent centre-backs they have. ?

Not sure why Conte doesn't want him at Inter. worked well in his back 3 when they won the league

He was part of the Chelsea team that barely gave Kane and Son a sniff last season at home. Can’t say I’ve followed him too closely either, but most people connected with Chelsea seem to think he’s their best CB.

Something has obviously gone on behind the scenes with Lampard.
