Gentleman (and/or ladies)...

My family will be vacationing in London this holiday season, and I want very much to get my wife (who is a huge Spurs fan) to a match while we are there. My frustration with StubHub (which is my usual "go to" for tickets for sporting events or concerts over here) has reached a critical level. Between their crazy fees and delivery (or "print by") dates of just a day or two before the match, I've just about given up on them. I'm hoping to find a way to get tickets in hand before we leave for the trip. That may not be possible. I don't know. I'm not asking if anybody wants to sell tickets. I know that is against the forum rules. I would just like the opinion of the hardcore fans as to the best place for me to look to procure tickets. I'm happy to buy them from the club if it is actually possible that they would have any available (the Dec 26 Brighton match is the one that we will have to try to go to - not sure if it will be more or less difficult to get a ticket since it is Boxing Day). Or if there is a different website that you think is better than StubHub, that is fine, too. Again, I'm not looking for anybody to sell me their tickets. I'm just hoping for some guidance.

Also, we're staying in Tottenham for a portion of our trip, basically in the shadow of the stadium, and I would welcome any recommendations for a local pub at which to close out each night of the trip. Thanks in advance.

Personally would never go out in Tottenham in the evening unless a matchday. But I might be being a pussy.

Well, now I'm sweating the few days that we'll be staying in Tottenham. I don't have any body armor, but I can run at a pretty good clip. Maybe that will serve me well.

Concerning "general sale", will tickets be available from the club at that point? It would seem that your system for distributing tickets is somewhat different than ours. Over here (NBA, NFL, MLB, etc), all of the tickets that aren't taken up by season-ticket holders are released to the public at the same time, usually months ahead of time. Once they are all sold, the only way to get them is via secondary markets (StubHub, etc). Cheapest tickets to the Brighton match on StubHub right now are 120 Euros for shortside, upper tier (not including StubHub's ridiculous fees). That seemed a bit much. I'll just put off buying tickets until the week of the game if there is going to be a fresh batch of tickets hitting the market then.

And as to the "and/or ladies", I just didn't want have some female member of the forum jump down my throat because I assumed everybody on here was male (although I know that 99% of you likely are). Things are a little touchy over here these days...political correctness and all. I was just covering my rear...not questioning the manliness of any of you guys.

Tottenham is not too bad, but not somewhere Id go on holiday. It would be like me flying to the States and staying in Baltimore; but Tottenham is nowhere near as dangerous as Baltimore, nowhere in the UK is.

If form continues like it is, youll probably be able to get a ticket on the day at the ground. In fact, you might find some season tickets in the bins outside

You can't buy (legit) tickets from StubHub. The only place you can buy from is the club. Either become a member and get your ticket through the members sale, ticket exchange, or wait for general sale.

This is all there on the official site. I suggest doing your research and planning well in advance.

Also staying in Tottenham is inadvisable.

I was only joking, old chap. I did clock what you were doing, but then I had an image of only accepting advice from ladies because of the 'or' and it made me giggle. (y)

Should be fine getting a ticket for Boxing Day as a lot of fans can’t make it to the game due to family commitments (me included).

My ticket will be going up on the ticket exchange but they can only be sold to members so best way to be sure is to get a cheap membership. This will also make sure you only have to pay face value for the ticket rather than the crazy stubhub prices (y)

If staying two days in Tottenham I’d recommend a stadium tour the day before the game as on game day it’s too busy to move around and really appreciate the stadium (walking out to the seats/pitch is better on match days).

Enjoy it, there really is nothing like being there for your first game :woot:

Disagree. TE goes to general sale (public) if it isn't sold out a few days before the game. Membership is a waste of money, can almost guarantee they will go on general sale, but if you don't want to have to keep checking the THFC website and happy to pay an extra £40 per person membership is the way to go. Stadium looks half empty almost at the moment online

If you go for a night time walk in Bruce Castle Park, say hello to my mum. She'll be the old lady asking if you're "looking for business luv", mention me and she may not pick your pockets.

Well I appreciate it anyway! Even if I am in the 1% :)
I presume you are already a member? I think I'm right in saying they won't just sell to anyone, you have to be registered with them for about 6 weeks prior to buying tickets. i.e. now might even be too late for Boxing day. I suggest you check to be sure.

If you are gonna stay in Tottenham and want an evening out. I’d suggest getting a cab to somewhere a bit nicer like Muswell hill. Only about 15 minutes and much safer and nice pubs and places to ear. Otherwise just go into town.
