Just don’t get this one at all. Hope it’s all a ploy to unsettle them ahead of the weekend. 40-50M here is insanity.

Ings gets the chance to play with/show he can deputise for Kane ahead of the Euros. Southampton get 50M + our scouting reports on Weghorst, Vinicius, Diallo, Millik etc to help them find his replacement.

It's weird because he isn't much like the other striker targets we've been linked with. Certainly wouldn't complain though. He's mobile, good technique, good on the counter, knows the league well, homegrown and doesn't actually have that many miles on the clock for a 28 year old either.

Whether all of that justifies him over some of the cheaper options from other leagues depends on how big that pot of gold is that Levy seems to have found and who else we also want to get in, maybe at CB and CM according to ITK.

For the amount money that's been quoted, doesn't it make sense sign someone like Daka, provided we are even willing to spend that much on a striker?

Honestly, I'd much rather go with Wout or Bas Dost over Ings as I don't think we're going to be splashing that kind of money on any striker much less an injury prone one that doesn't offer much of a difference over Kane.

We're clearly trying to win NOW which means finished product, not potential.

I really doubt that they would risk their survival by selling him.

Hasenhüttl stating publicly saying he doesn't want to leave is very telling, he doesn't say "Tottenaham aren't interested", I can see why Ings would probably be happy to stay with the Saints though.

Southampton are a selling club. Can't remember them standing firm over the sale of anybody. If the money's right, they'll let him go.
Personally I don't see this happening, why would Danny Ings leave Southampton where he's a first choice striker to come and be backup to Harry Kane, he already did that at Liverpool. If I was him I stay put.

I think people are reading to much into this, he's a striker, English, PL experience and has 2 years left on his contract. Not saying we weren't intrested, but it's more likely to see if there's a deal to be made.

Yep, If we're casting around Europe for a striker we'd be pretty stupid not to at least ask, imagine bringing someone in and being told I'm surprised you didn't enquire about Ings as he was available!

JM is infamous for doing this especially during his first spell at Chavs, Fergie employed this tactic very regularly throughout his time at united

"Not even discussable"... give it a rest Ralph - you just sold us your club captain a few weeks ago
Of whom they didn’t miss on their run in to the end of the league one bit. And hasn’t looked like the player we might need to sit and do the job. They finished the season looking a better team than us imo.

I'm inclined to agree but equally its clear that things are happening at Spurs and we're also in Europe (at the moment anyway).

I dont expect this to happen and I'm personally on the Weghorst bandwagon but equally I don't think its quite as open and shut as we might think.

We may have also had encouragement from his agent. I get the impression we wouldn't make an official enquiry if we were of the view that he wasn't interested at all in leaving Saints

I doubt we have the non-HG slots.
