CL doesn't attract best players ... We bought sissoko when we were in ucl :)

Who a club chooses to buy is up to them, but for a club like us that doesn't have the kind of global prestige of a Man Utd or Real Madrid etc. you need tlo consistently be in the CL for the most highly rated players to even consider joining.

We'll be in a top 4 fight imo and I think we have a decent chance of making it with some good signings this summer.

We finished 6th this season, so one would generally expect us to be favourites in the games against the 14 teams that finished below us.

That's a pot of 84pts (28 games x 3pts) to play for where we are, generally speaking, expected to win.

I know it's unlikely that we'll pick up max points against the teams below us, but it puts things into perspective.

Essentially, if we can be well drilled and consistent, there's always a chance we can make top 3 or 4. This is especially so, considering Utd, Leicester and Chelsea have been anything but consistent this season.

If we had swapped our full backs
for Liverpool's
we might have reversed positions
with them.

ish

Usually I would say trophy first and top 4 second but with us already out of the champions league for a season, we have to qualify for that next year. We can’t go two years out of it. Look at what it is doing to Arsenal. The longer you’re out of it the harder it is to get back in.

But on the other hand a trophy keeps Kane at the club.

So it has to be both. But knowing our luck it will be neither!

Now that the 19/20 season is finally over. What do we all think should be the realistic expectations of Mou and the squad for next season?

For me it's:

1. Win a trophy (Go all out for FA cup and Europa league)
2. Finish above the goons again
3. Be competitive in the league (Top 5 finish)

This is obviously all dependent on what sort of transfer window we have and if Levy delivers on key targets.

dead right. Either too 4 or a trophy, ought to be enough to keep Kane- neither won’t be imho. That’s the height of my ambition under ENIC.

They will use the pandemic as an excuse to not strengthen the squad sufficiently, to enable challenge on more than one front.

Actually, I’m not sure they’ll invest to improve on this past season, whether in fees, wages, youth - in then loan. We are a fair distance behind the top 4, and we’re lucky to finish above Wolves.

Bruno Fernandes anyone?

Yep Bruno Fernandes made a huge difference but Pogba is still necessary. Pogba aids the transition from defense to attack; without him all Man U does is pass the ball sideways slowly so the opposition defense gets back into shape and you cant find+unleaseh Bruno Fernadez.

I fully expect us to be challenging for The premier league next season depending if Jose gets his targets and we get rid of the players holding us back.

That said if somebody offered me theEuropa league and an 8th place finish playing the most turgid of football then I’d take it. Seeing arsenal win their 4th FA cup in 7 years on Saturday really hit home how bad we failed to do something meaningful with the squad of players we’ve had over the last 5 years.

I suspect given Jose's record that next season and the one after (possibly) will be where he finds success. I find it very difficult to see Chelsea or Utd managing to sustain high performance and results and I think both have rather large chinks in their armour much like ourselves although we have a manager who has proved he knows how to get results.
I think we will finish in the top four and I think we may even win the EL. I also think we will go deep in both domestic competitions but win neither.

Some people insist that we over achieved, I think we have under achieved for quite a while.

Who the fuck knows. Aside from relegation and a quadruple anything is possible.

Top 4 and a trophy has to be the target.

Defo a trophy and 5th place whilst playing exciting counter attacking football

Trophy would be awesome, thats target #1.

Otherwise I hope for some improvements and a feeling that we are on a good way. Top 4 will be very difficult but it is doable and should be the target in the league.
