I honestly can't think of anyone. Certainly not at the kind of pricetag we'd want to sell him for.

I think there's a reason he never gets linked to other clubs tbh...

Personally I think he needs to get properly dropped. Not just for a game or two, either. He needs to realise that, for the first time in his Spurs career, he doesn't have a divine right to start, and he needs to seriously examine his weaknesses and work on them.

Maybe I'm off the mark, but you compare someone like Kane who is obsessed with being the best and improving his game, to someone like Dele, who seems to be almost as focused on his branding as he does on his football. The difference is stark.

Maybe he's brilliant in training and works hard, but it's hard to see any evidence of it on the pitch when he has barely improved in 4 years.
He has really stagnated over the past 18 months and based on current performances doesn't deserve a starting role. There are more effective options to Dele at the moment

Honestly he's been dreadful for coming up to two years. All that early promise to basically being a passenger now. Its worrying

Don't see where he would fit in the strongest lineup...

Interested to see how Alli fits into a 4-4-2 under Jose, he played his best football for us upfront alongside Kane.

I reckon Son and Lucas may play on the wings and Dele and Kane up top in a 4-4-2 like yesterday.

To be honest, without factoring in Oliver Skipp and considering Winks and Sissoko are not exceptional, our best XI is probably a 4-2-3-1 with an Ndombele and Lo Celso double pivot and Alli at number 10. That will obviously change the moment we get a decent CDM though.

If Dele was put up for sale what type of clubs do you think would be interested?
If Newcastle takeover goes ahead i believe that's the type of signing they could look for. And it's about the best level j think he could expect. I'd be happy if we get offered and accept silly money from the toon for him this summer to be honest. It's been 2 seasons since I have seen any spark in him.

Would be a shame as I think it suits our players much more than 4231.

I prefer 433 but don't think we have the personnel for it yet
I agree that a 4231 doesn't really suit us right now.

It worked when we had 2 full backs that can get up and down the pitch all game long. We had 2 very physical midfielders to protect the defence and a playmaker, an inside forward and Alli behind Kane.

But if we are to get the best from Lo Celso and Ndombele then this formation doesn't work.

Very worrying that he's got another hamstring injury. I think that's 4 now he's had in a relatively short time. Must be hampering him psychologically, and potentially is why we no longer see those explosive bursts into the penalty area.

On Dele....

Just cannot see how he is suitable under Mourinho way of playing.
Dele's at his best , when he is running beyond the no9 - running without the ball into space dragging defenders out & across. He does have a great engine, works hard, but doesnt have a passing game like GLC or run at pace like Son, Bergwijn, Lucas.
Poch system works brilliantly for him but I fail to see how he fits in to the current XI or squad.

Only formation that Jose has played in the past that suits him is diamond formation with him at tip supporting Kane & Son. Will he be ok for a squad role ? If so, fine. Otherwise, I have no problem in selling Dele this summer. I dont see top4 interested in him - club like Everton or Leciester could benefit him or a loan move abroad on a swap deal.

I think he needs to add something more to his game to really make a name for himself. In the Poch squad we had a lot of dribblers and runners with only Eriksen as a passer of the ball.

I looked back at the 14-15 Chelsea team and the 11-12 Madrid team to make comparisons and whilst both had energetic runners in the side, there were some very good passers within the ranks (Ozil, Kaka, Oscar and Fabregas). Dele can make some good passes, he's just not been in the side to do it. However I think with his engine he would be in the Oscar mould of #10.

I'm not eager to write off his Spurs career, but he needs to work on this imo to own his spot.

I think Dele should be played as a winger / forward in a 4-3-3 instead of as a centre midfielder. I know some on here are dead set on him being unable to play as a winger but I think he could be effective there. For me, Dele's at his best when he's able to make deep runs as well as combine with others in the box. He's also a strong header of the ball and could latch onto crosses. As others have mentioned, he’s struggled when he’s had to drop in and create from midfield as that is not his game. For that reason playing him as a CM is not ideal.

People think to play on the left / right in a 4-3-3 you need to be a tricky wide player... this is not true. Mourinho has primarily had our front 3 in a 4-3-3 playing quite narrow with width being provided from our full backs.

With most of our offensive output under Mourinho having come from counter attacking situations, Dele would be effective on the counter coming from the left or right and combining with our other forwards. This is how he has scored a lot of goals for us.

Of course if Dele is playing, we also don't have to utilize a 4-3-3 and he could play as a 10 in a 4-2-3-1 or similar formation. He could also play up top alongside Kane or Son in a 4-4-2. Mourinho is not tactically rigid and will not be sticking to one system all season.

Despite the criticism he's received, he's still our third top goal scorer this season and I think he’ll very much be in the manager’s plans next season.

Dele may end up being the alternative to Kane instead of buying an out and out striker.
When Kane injured or rotated, Dele furthest forward in a 3 with Son and one other.

Fuck no to that, sick of us trying to find ways around not having to buy another striker.
