Willian over Moura certainly even over Lamela but Im a Son fanboy and even though he is having a bit of a rough patch he is IMO a far better player than Willian, I do see your point however.

Why is everyone being so pedantic about this lol?

We need multiple good attacking players. If we sign Willian he will play some games and Son will play others. Both will play some games.

And it's freeeeeeeee!

I happen to think that loans and free agent signings are going to take center stage in this upcoming transfer window. not just for us, both most other teams too.
the impact of covid on the majority of teams finances can't be downplayed. we're not the only ones who are in a bind. moreover, it also will show how unsustainable the ongoing growth of transfer fees has become.
it means that there will be a great deal of creativity in the market methinks. for the first time, i think we'll see something akin to a trade market like you have in professional sports in the States (NBA, MLB, NFL). albeit, this trade market will be focused on swapping loans.
take for example Aston Villa.
if they get relegated, there's no way Grealish stays. they can either cash in on him, or leverage the loan market. EG: let's say we work out a deal for Grealish by committing to a two year loan (with an option, not obligation) to buy. In return, we offer up Skippy, Sess and Parrot for year or two year loans.
That way, if Villa get promoted again, Grealish can go back. Or Spurs triggers the buy option. and hopefully two seasons from now, they'll be in a better financial position.
Yes, i am fully aware that the latter is highly unlikely. but the general gist of using loans more creatively still applies.
bottom line is... it'll be fascinating transfer window, as I personally believe it'll be a huge inflection point when it comes to how we think about player acquisition.

Loans make sense from a Levy perspective. If Jose can't turn us into challengers again with some bigger loan players then at least we're not stuck with them when he's gone. Levy will have seen the Sanchez and Lukaku signings and will be unwilling to get into a situation where he's having to find a buyer to clear the wage bill again. He'll prefer younger players.

Which then begs the question why didn't he just get a younger coach in....But that's for another thread.

Interesting he mentions H not for sale under any circumstances - does that mean others might be (e.g. Son, Dele, Ndombele). I agree though that my biggest worry is also how long we hold until these guys as Son in particular is a shadow of his former self.

I think it more likely that Utd or Chelsea will wave wads of cash in front of Grealish and he'll go on a permanent move. I'd be happy if we could get him on loan, but would he score goals, given that our strikers are starved of service?

We won’t get any decent players in the next transfer window.
1.Levy won’t pay a decent player the going rate.
2. Why would a decent player want to come to spurs at the moment.

Dragon1 on COYS:

There is going to be a huge loan market this summer very different to normal, big players on big wages will be going on season long loans, the club expect to be at the forefront of this we know we need players, we are not going to be making big purchases this summer

H is not for sale this summer under any circumstances

As of this am the only way Jose leaves this summer is if another club comes in , Madrid is still a possibility if zidane chooses to leave Jose is v friendly with Madrid president

Anyone else expecting Levy to offer paying only 50% of wages?

We can only have two players in on loan anyway, so it’s not going to make a huge difference to the squad. And isn’t Gedson still on loan? If so, that’s us down to one player coming in.

In addition to the odd freebie kicking around the market, I presume we’ll see a big drop in the fees for more experienced players and a big drop in their expected salaries. Maybe the likes of Rakitic, Vidal, Costa, Rodriguez, for example?

I’d expect Gedson’s loan to be terminated at the end of the season rather than extending to two years given how little he’s played... provided there’s an option to do that!

Jose does have clout still. Looking at my previous post (which people seem to find hilariously optimistic lol) -

Bale and Zidane have a terrible relationship at Real. Bale I think would want to come back here and Jose still has good connections at Madrid, so I think that could happen. He comes on loan and we pay some % of his wages. That's not too unrealistic for me.

Willian is a former Jose player, who was pretty much a mainstay in his Chelsea squad. I think he would definitely come here on a free. Zouma is another player who Jose liked who could potentially come here.

Perisic is a player Jose wanted at United, and who doesn't get much playing time at Bayern. So I think that's a possibility.

Coutinho would probably be the toughest one to pull off as there's no connection to our manager or our club. But I think he would be interested in playing in the premier league again. Not sure anyone bigger than us would go for him (maybe Liverpool). Arsenal might want him. So again I think that's a possibility (obviously not paying his full wages).

Linked to a Turkish CB Kabak who I was assuming (probably incorrectly) a&c was posting about.
How the heck did you get to Kabak from Albert?
If that's not his first name (I honestly don't know, it could be), you're really reaching, especially for this early in the window.

I'm not sure if it is just two players. The premier league website seems to suggest that players loaned from clubs abroad don't count towards the loan limit...

"With the exception of Welsh clubs competing in the competitions listed under Rule V.6.2, loans from a club in membership of another National Association do not count towards the above quotas."

Albert! Come on, stop hiding Alby, you're needed.

A singer-songwriter called Albert Lee has an album called ‘Hiding’, with two aptly named songs: ‘Are you wasting my time’ and ‘setting me up’. The confirmation bias is strong with this one ?
