We can do a lot worse than Aurier and with our Championship level budget we'll struggle to do better. We should keep him and sign some competition for him.

Aarons has looked really poor last couple of matches.
Aaron’s stock has dropped the longer the season has gone on. Since January, I don’t think he’s delivered an assist or even a dangerous cross from an attacking position. He doesn’t look as strong or quick as before. Maybe the inevitable relegation has been a blow to his confidence, but it’s not like he’s the standout player in his team (like Grealish or Rice).
I don’t think he’s the solution anymore

Aurier has definitely improved, but we still need to build the team to accommodate his defensive weaknesses. We need Sissoko to cover him and also Davies to drop back on the other side. It doesn't feel like a particularly good strategy to build your team and formation around one of your weakest players on paper.

I'd wager that Trippier would have had better attacking returns if he'd been given the role that Aurier has.

I don't think he's terrible, but if we could get a decent fee and sign a good replacement then I wouldn't be too disappointed.

or keep him and sign another left back

Mourinho has said Aurier has the attributes to be a quality right back if he puts his mind to it and works hard. He’s improved under but he does have a knack of getting injured.

For me I would prefer Bogle over Aarons but I also wouldn’t be against signing Castagne as he can cover both left and right back.

We could potentially start next season with:

Aurier, Castagne
Davies, Sessegnon

With Tanganga able to cover both LB and RB.

ricardo pereira would be an upgrade (another transfer we f**ked up), not sure about aarons or castagne
but i think we still need another RB even if we keep aurier, neither of tanganga/foyth/gerson/sissoko/skipp(?!) is the solution

If given a chance when fit, I’ve felt Foyth could do a job at RB as the “defensive fullback” in José’s system. He played great at RB for Argentina and put in a few strong shifts for Poch, but I think he would suit Mourinho better as he wouldn’t expect Foyth to play as far down the pitch as Poch did.
He would also allow Sessegnon to play as the attacking fullback on the left.

LB—————-RB
Davies———-Aurier
Sess————Foyth

Whisper it quietly.... the left back at Norwich is better than the right back.

From his last couple of appearances, I'd say Walker-Peters stands out and looks a much better player than Aarons.

I honestly think if we signed another top drawer right back who can defend first and foremost and we had Aurier as a rotation option, it would give us another dimension going forward if we're chasing a game. Having someone similar to Davies who will back on the right side will give our left wing back (Sessegnon or another signing) the freedom to play an Aurier role. I quite like how we get Aurier further forward but it's so predictable our play will be focused down the right side when we have Davies playing who is instructed to sit back the whole game. I think it's essential that we bring in two more full back options for both left and right this transfer window.

Haven’t seen them but assume from that he did well, which only goes to show what he can do if you give him regular games, something lots of us were crying out for at the start of the season. Especially as what we were using instead wasn’t exactly successful.

I’m glad he had a good game for Southampton but he’s still not good enough for a top 6 side. Defensively he’s like bambi and he seriously needs to bulk up. He’s also 23 and although that isn’t old he should be either further along in his development or sold for a reasonable sum. I would opt for the latter as he doesn’t display anything that makes you think he’s going to be a quality player. Whereas if you look at Sessegnon, he’s younger and has something special about him like than be nurtured by Mourinho and the coaches.

Sound to me like Mitchell isn't as great as he was cracked up to be if he seriously recommends signing Aurier for anyone.

27 years old and 2 years left on his contract.

What do you reckon he's worth in a Pre-covid world? £18m-£22m?

I doubt any club is going to pay that for him now. And Levy won't sell him at a cut price.

Very doubtful he's going anywhere.

We have 2 LB’s. We need an RB. Send Foyth on loan. Have Tanganga compete with Sanchez, Dier and Toby.

The reason why Aarons is so preferred is not only his potential. It’s his HG status. There are better young FB’s out there for the taking in Europe but HG status is a massive bonus in our situation,

He's a far better player than Aarons. Don't think there's a more over-rated player in the league.

Totally agree with this - what is so special about Aarons? Also people underrate Aurier quite a lot here I think - ok he may not be the best defender and is prone to errors but he is quick, athletic and is a potent attacking threat on the right.
