Sky TV are stopping billing to pubs and clubs, BT also apparently.

.
The word over here in ROI is that the charge for Sky Sports to pubs was €2300 a month
with a strict 3 month termination clause. Phew.

They've got to do the same for the average household haven't they?

In some ways with the stadium we should recover quicker than other clubs. That’s assuming people even have funds to go to football after this. But tbh watching sky seeing them talk about football just feels wrong. Quite frankly right now who cares.

You and everyone in this thread cares anpit football otherwise we wouldn't be here

June 30th seems to be the date they have provisionaly set to get the seasons competed provided the situation improves.

Quite agree , many mainly elderly dying , health services under pressure in so many countries , medical staff putting their lives at risk and all we hear is can we finish the PL season , can the Champions League be finished, how much money will clubs lose, it's just ridiculous.
I feel sorry for the Barnet's and Accrington Stanley's of the football world but if Premier League clubs lose money or don't get given a title or others get promoted then so be it .

Yeah, but how is this any different than any other day in which so many people around the world die because of food scarcity, violence or lack of access to affordable health care (not to mention abortions which some people don't like to count as deaths for some reason)? Why are deaths by covid-19 any worse than all of those?

Sorry, going a bit off topic I guess.

This doesn't seem like a lot of time to finish up all the games we have left when Covid doesn't look like it's slowing down....

edit: I wonder what they will do when that date comes and goes and games still aren't done

Its an existing medication used for something else and will apparently be available for use with Covid-19 next month

This is medication normally used to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis. It treats the symptoms not the virus.

if he premier league had to vote
No1 Wait until the all clear then play remaining matches
No2 Void this season and start next season with the same clubs and fixtures as this season
No3 season finish is how the standings are at this moment
Apart from the enormous problems all solutions have for me the No2 option seems the one that would work .
Over and above fitting 2pints into a pint pot problem. it is the contractual rules about squads and transfers and the minefield that would be involved for me says this season will be null and void it is the only solution and by the way even then the next season may even have a delayed start .
Most peoples views are guided by the vested interest and not by what makes sense and when you get pundits going on about "the games must be completed to uphold the integrity of the league " it makes me choke on my cocoa because football in my memory has never suffered from having integrity in fact it has been more they have suffered because there is no integrity in football .

Has anyone phoned Sky or BT yet to cancel because there is no live sport? I might try it tomorrow and see what their reactions are

I phoned this afternoon, Sky introduced a contract to Sky Sports a while back so I’m actually in contract until July.

They have said they are making an announcement on Thursday to customers, I imagine with regards to discounts or making it free until Sporting events are back on. If they don’t then il argue the fact that they aren’t providing what I signed up for I suppose.

I can see it now, they are going to give Pool the title. But they'll have a plan and an agreement in place incase it happens again, where the leader doesn't win the title, and it'll be us that it happens to.

I think the noises we're hearing more and more are a pointer. They will finish the season no matter when that will be and resolve any issues around it at that time. Sort of we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

They are going to be taking a massive hit on this. Right now they've no live sport, new TV shows and a movies are going to be thin on the ground so people are pretty quickly going to reduce their packages where possible. That's without the people who will have to completely cancel due to financial pressures.

I actually did call them a couple of days ago to see what my options are, well, to make sure I'm out of contract and found out my package was going up by £4.50 a month in April. After thinking on it, I'll be getting rid of multi-room and going down to the lowest possible package.

Seems sensible. They really can't commit to anything other than completing the season until all this passes. Aside from it being impossible to know what will happen they can't risk any kind of mass protest at this time.
