I think we'd have to do that mate.

If we say resume 19/20 in early September, finish it by third week of October. Start the next season early November and play till mid to late June. That would mean no Euro 21.

Basically, the earlier we can get players back on the pitch, the more chance there is of Euro 21 is the way I see it.

But this would only work if leagues and teams across Europe followed the same pattern.

For example, The Champions League group stage for next season is supposed start in September - with qualifiers all throughout the summer based on this seasons league results - so if we're still playing the rest of this season in September and October, how the fuck is that gonna work?

And transfer windows! What if Italy, France and Spain, continue their seasons in a couple weeks and finish by June but we're stuck not finishing until October... Does the window still open in June? Does that mean we can essentially finish this season with new players? How is that gonna work? In theory, could Real Madrid sign Jack Grealish in July with Villa not finishing their season until October? Is that fair?? Or will our window not open until November before our new season, when the rest of Europe potentially have their window shut?

Whole thing is a mess!?

I can only presume there would be a deadline before which we need to "get this season done" - perhaps sometime in July at the very latest. No way will the FA want one season bleeding into the next - they surely would never ever let that happen.

If it proves impossible to complete the season by the deadline I guess would be declared null and void. Perhaps Liverpool will get enough games to cross the finish line and thus be declared de facto champions, but everything else would have to be written off.

This could potentially mean no footy until August or even longer. Now I have to put up with you lot whining and bitching.

I have you twat. Why don't you read posts properly!

But you didn't you put up 1 link to a obscure website that was sumiising what may/could/could not happen ie: opinion none of it was based on anything more factual than I reckon.

I saw it posted somewhere, don’t remember if here or on Reddit, that this presents the perfect opportunity to realign the football calendar in view of the upcoming winter World Cup.

Finishing out the season behind closed doors after the spread of the virus has peaked, taking a short break and then picking up the new season with the goal of an alignment around winter 2022 would seem sensible, although I have no idea what contingencies would be involved.

Well this thread didn't take long to go off the rails, the new funtime Friday.

Somebody is going to have to keep a serious eye on Ndombele. If McDonalds' shares start rising in the coming days we will know he's gone rogue.

But then you're effectively permanently realigning the entire football calendar, or else we'd have to have a 7/8 month football-less window following Qatar to get us back to the normal routine. I don't see how it would work.

They’ll just take the league positions as they were at closure. Afraid our run ended with Sonny’s injury. Thank you Mr Levy!
That definitely won’t happen. Either they play in summer when crisis has passed or they will void season. Cannot relegate teams with different fixtures

We already know it will either Levy's, Mourinho's, or Alli's fault so blame one or all of them.

The only way things aren’t going to get messy is if the season is resumed at one point. But I don’t see how that is even possible at this point. There are so many different factors at play from contracts to transfers that I think it is logistically impossible to continue after June 1st. There will have to be a cut of point, and considering there
Are 9 games to be played I guess the last possible week we can get on with it is last week of April or at a push last week of Mafor a July 1st end.

This is just a lawsuit waiting to happen. Several hundred lawsuits.

Yeah maybe you're right thinking about the CL qualification process. No matter what scenario it's looking extremely good for us. At best back in the CL at worst injured players back to finish a season.

Surely the legal ramifications for finishing the season as it stands is a lot greater than it would be for declaring it null and void and have European football depend on the 18/19 standings.

So do we get a new season of the amazon documentary, or do we just watch the old null and void league one.
We get an additional 3 months of training ground footage of Jose mercilessly bullying Ndombele and kicking the shit out of Troy Parrott.

Yeah. I'm no expert but on legal grounds how can you justify it? Sure it feels wrong and undeserved to take away CL from the likes of Leicester or deny Liverpool the title but it would be equally unfair (and ultimately far more damaging) to relegate Aston Villa. You can't have one without the other so you essentially have no choice but to call the whole thing off.
