He's watched more than you buddy. Concede defeat.

It's not a fight but some tards might think it is. But if he's gonna throw this argument of "no watching the game" he can pretty much stick his season ticket up his arse.

While Sanchez being our best defender the season he's no more than an average defender. He stills commits the same mistakes.

I remember Mourinho saying when Man United won the UEL against Ajax he planned everything to put Sanchez under pressure since he is ridiculous when having possession.

If you want to have a bit of quality when you want to play from the back we need ball player defenders, something that he is not.

Definitely sell: Rose, Foyth, KWP, Vorm (release),

Consider selling: Aurier, Lamela, Winks, Lucas

We need RB and LB.
Aarons looks good. Can he and Tanganga be the RB pair we need?

Back up striker.

Couple of midfielders. A solid holding one and a creative one.

Max Aarons wouldn't be an improvement over Aurier, who has been one of our best player of the past few months. It would be a pointless move.

Aurier, Moura, Davies, Verts, Lucas, Sissoko, Dier, Dele... I don't think that many are truly 'safe' to stay. And yes, if Dele continues to stink up the joint for the rest of the year, I can see the board and jose deciding to cut their losses and see what they can get before it's too late. Same with Dier.

He will hopefully have some funds. Plus with what he sells, I think he will have enough to bring in new fullbacks, a center back, a CDM, and an attacking player, that can also fill in for Harry when he inevitably goes out injured again.

To put it another way I don't think having max Aaron's in place of Aurier this season would have been the difference to where we are now.

A proper mobile defensive midfielder and striker cover for me.
Trouble is we're then reliant on a single DM to keep is stable at the back. I agree we need both those two players as a priority but also need 2/3 new defenders.

I think Poch already has the United job and can see Kane going there with him.

They both already ruined each other's chances of winning a CL, don't think it would be a good idea for them to reunite ever again.

Cut their losses? It would take the worst negotiations ever for us to fail to make a huge profit on what we paid for him - Championship players go for more!

Replace kwp and Vertonghen/Davies with Aarons and Lewis from Norwich.

Replace Moura with a top quality quick wide forward.

Replace Wanyama with a new DM

Buy a second no.9

Those saying Aurier is fine/can stay, do you realise that teams literally target that side of the pitch against us constantly?

Every single match without fail teams get in behind him with ease. He’s unbelievably vulnerable to a simple ball behind him.

He’s done ok going forward and he makes a good crunching tackle occasionally but he’s far too erratic and his general passing is shocking.

He is one of the worst positional players I have seen at fullback, incapable of reading the game and constantly exploited. And he doesn’t have insane recovery speed like Walker had to make up for it. He defends on his heels, constantly reacting to things rather than pro actively reading the game.

So whilst he has shown positive energy and delivered some good moments in attack (though still erratic), he simply cannot do the basics defensively and therefore needs replacing ASAP in the summer.

He doesn't really play full back though does he, He's more of a wing back and the CB on his side or DM are instructed to cover him when he goes forward but I take your point, defensively he switches off far too often.

One of our most consistent players this season funnily enough :D

We do need a new RB but we have higher priorities to deal with first.

I think that says everything about where the team is right now.

So much to improve.

I suspect the same people who like him, like Sissoko. Both terribly brainless footballers.

Looking at how his selections have evolved since this thread began, the players who are either running out of time on their deal, or out on loan having not been ultimately fancied, I think we might see greater change than Jose is admitting. As it stands, with no transfer activity, our squad would look like this come the start of next season:
  1. Lloris Gazzaniga
  2. Aurier Tanganga
  3. Dier Foyth
  4. Sanchez Alderweireld
  5. Davies Sessegnon
  6. Sissoko Skipp
  7. Lo Celso Winks
  8. Dele Ndombele
  9. Lucas Lamela
  10. Son Bergwijn
  11. Kane Parrott
  12. Gedson (6,7,8,9,10)
The bolder players are probably all at some degree of risk to leave, even if on loan.
  1. Gazzaniga is coming into his prime, will have accrued a decent value and is good enough to start games for someone, even if not a top side. Sell
  2. Foyth just hasn’t appeared since his last horror show (yes he was injured for part of that time) and is at a point where if he doesn’t play he won’t develop. Sell/ Loan
  3. Likewise Sessegnon needs games to develop but needs to develop to get games with us. Loan
  4. Sissoko value is only declining from here, is still obviously capable at top flight level, and is likely to play less and less here. Sell
  5. Ndombele, whatever the background, clearly isn’t currently in favour. Next ten games are massive for him. What might save him is that he’s young enough and talented enough to justify persisting with for one more season. Keep
  6. Lamela’s continued fitness issues ultimately hurt far more in an injury crisis and as much of a likeable player as he is, we have several experienced options in his part of the pitch now including the versatile Gedson. Sell
  7. Parrott looks talented, and if he gets the chance in the next 10 games then might change my mind on this, but having turned 18 and ensured his HG status for us I can see him being given game time elsewhere while we bring in either a versatile young forward line Osihmen to challenge Kane, or another Llorente type seasoned pro to keep the seat warm. Loan

This would leave us needing a top right back (as I foresee Tanganga moving to Foyth CB slot), a back up goalie (hopefully a young successor to Lloris), a top left back, a top class DM and a back up/ rotation striker, giving us a 22 man squad to be supplemented by the youth, so three first choice players and two back ups/ development players. None of that is unreasonable to expect, and all relatively realistic I’d say.
