Jumping into the crowd to confront a fan? I’d be surprised if you see him again this season. Not saying it’s right but I imagine they’ll throw the book at him

I'm not sure arguing with fans in the stand warrants a ban on its own? If he's proven to have hit the guy then it's a different story. Anyways, let's see what happens.

The irony of some idiot fan abusing Dier when he had his best game in years. What the fuck was the **** even saying? He even scored his penalty!

Honestly hate large sections of our fanbase. Our own fans are the reason I don't bother going to games anymore.

But its 1 guy out of 50000. Need to put that into context

The people behind me just don’t stop moaning. I’m seriously thinking about not going to the Man Utd game. We are struggling, all I need is to listen to a couple of twats drone on all game.
Might wanna avoid the match thread then mate.

There’s an old boy in front of my dad, spends the entire match berating and abusing every single person he can. Players, manager, other fans. He once turned around and had the gall to square up to me is I’d said something to my dad, privately, that he happened to disagree with.

Guess what though... you’ll never see Mr Passionate in his seat after the 87th minute.

Wow. So many generalisations on here this evening about Spurs supporters at the ground. Yes we have some knobs, but they pay their money and can gave their say.

However and regardless, it still doesn't excuse Dier going into the stands. He's an idiot and deserves to get banned, regardless of his reasons/excuses.

If he gets a ban he gets a ban. It might not help us out in terms of picking a side for a few games but the guy jumped in to protect his family. You have to respect that. And I wont hold anything against him for doing it.

As much as it may be justified he’s got to get a ban. The authorities can’t have players jumping up into the stands. Let’s face it insults happen all the time.

I rate him for doing it though. He’s one of the few players in the team with some fire in him.

He's allowed in the stadium, and he's allowed to argue with people ?‍♂️

If I find out someone is abusing my family then you better fucking believe I would do exactly the same as Eric. Family comes first over anything.

@mark_2017 @Gb160 happy to discuss which bit you disagree with. Dier being an idiot or fans paying their money and can have their say...

tbh I'd scarper too if I saw Eric coming for me!

WTF is he doing? Utterly bizarre behaviour.

I don’t condone whatever was said or done to his brother, but to climb into the stands like that, at the home of the club who pay your wages, is not cool.

What a shambles this club is atm.

1. That's an optimistic estimate of proportions. I'd say it's more like 1 in 100.
2. Whatever the number is they are everywhere and they are invariably the loudest person in the block.

What with being told to sit down and be quiet by our own stewards and having the only fans noise as constant foul-mouthed complaints about players, it's getting to West Ham levels of toxic atmosphere in the new stadium.

Absolutely agree, if being provoked by arseholes in the ground is something you can't cope with then maybe a professional athlete isn't for you?!?!?

However, I love Dier and have a soft spot for his "take shit from no one attitude" - he will be fairly heavily punished for this I'd think, which another blow on top of everything else - as you say, shambles.

More from Mourinho
“The people that are in these privileged positions by the tunnel. Of course some are Tottenham fans but I think a lot of corporate, a lot of invitation, a lot of people with special status and probably it’s the place of the stadium where I sometimes have doubts over if they are the real Tottenham fans because these [real fans] are the ones who support the boys until the last.

“This person insulted Eric, this family was there. The young brother was not happy with the situation and then Eric, I repeat did what we professionals cannot do, but did something that probably we would do.”

You can disagree with Mourinho's tactics or choices or whatever, but one thing he always does is back his players.

What a load of shit. Its football, if you don't like the abuse, don't take the money. Fucking snowflake
How can you say that without knowing what was said? I’ve heard some awful awful things at Spurs, people wishing players get cancer and the likes. Now imagine you’re Eric Dier, his brother has heard some scumbag say that, reacted, and in turn is getting abused. How do you react to that?
