Because Erik Lamela is the new saviour just decided by SC!
Don't think anyone is saying he's our saviour. But he is focused and determined and has spoken openly about his lovefor the club and how settled he is here.

Right now it's really good to hear.

Yeah, we can have some sympathy for the manager if the players are constantly throwing him under a bus but it's simple don't pick the ones who don't want to be around or more realistically gradually phase them out. We don't have to pick Eriksen, it's not as if he's been pulling up any trees in the past year or so, we don't rely on him like we did when Modric was here.

At this point I'd rather he play those who want to play for him and show a bit of fight, if we're losing matches or not getting results that's fine but look to build something at least with the players who want to play for you - I don't want to see another Brighton where the players just gave up.

Think GLC should be approaching fitness by the time we play Watford, he's new to the league but what's the harm in sticking him in, can't be any worse than what we're seeing now from Eriksen.
I agree. Right now we are unhappy with the players and it is disappointing that so many want out. We are going to need to buy but we have some quality players who are still determined.

GLC getting up to level quickly would be huge for the club. Only seen little of him and Ndombele but very encouraged by what I have seen.

That's the one thing I'd say about as you said starting Winks/Sissoko because in terms of work ethic, I'm really happy with both, I think Winks has been one of our best players with the big exception of an awful performance vs Bayern. I just don't know how you start Winks, Sissoko, Ndombele all in the same team and it's a real shame that 3 of the players with the right attitude are almost vying for 2 maybe even 1 spot.

I got some flack for it but I'm with you on developing Skipp in the short term because he seems to be more defensively astute and might possibly offer more in that sitting role. I feel we need a DM there but until Jan we have Dier/Wanyama and both have not performed in their admittedly limited appearances, so I'm open to risking Skipp because frankly, he can't be that much worse.

Not sure what’s what, we were told the players don’t like the system, and then it was that they don’t like the training, and that the boss is stubborn, it’s a regime etc etc. I think it’s probably a bit of all of those, but if you don’t put the effort in to train the system, it won’t work. Then the boss will be stubborn. If he listens and changes the system, and they still moan about training, that’s a stand off.
Reminds me of a story about Bob Dylan in the 80’s. His backing musicians at the time were fed up playing all his new stuff, so eventually got a meeting in a bar with the man. They asked why he didn’t play his classics. So he asked them to pick their favourites, they discussed them that night, wrote them all down and gave the list to him to leave with.. Next night at the show they get their set lists with none of the mentioned classics on there, they never got to play those songs, and I don’t think any of them ever played with him again after that tour..

So my point?? I dunno, never rub another man’s rhubarb or something.

Who are these players that need benching apart from Eriksen?

Lamela, Toby & Verts as well & I'd even consider benching Sissoko who runs at, but does little with the ball for me.

Got to get the energy & pace back into the team.

It's a good point but we are not in a position where we can just give players away and we also can't make them leave if they don't want to. Modern day football is like this unfortunately. As for bringing players in that's more on him than Levy.

I was talking to someone yesterday who is pretty well connected and in his words... If MP was so adamant on playing this diamond with two up top, why on earth wasn't a CF prioritised. We've had issues when Kanes been out playing one CF let alone wanting to play two.

Nothing regarding this formation change makes any sense.

That’s a good point actually.

We should really have been looking for another striker, I guess Dybala would have been up top alongside him but putting all eggs in one basket for a deal that was gonna take such a lot to get over the line is stupid.

But he does little with the ball. Whilst we do need energy & pace in the side players have to be able to use the ball & not give it away more than make the pass.

We need a few more players RB CB and maybe AM
But Poch not getting the best out of what we have is the biggest problem.

My feelings on our current squad & the massive shake up needed, I just can’t see Poch getting the full support from upstairs to completely overhaul our squad that’s clearly come/coming to the end of its road .......

Lloris - French David James
Gazziniga - Decent No 2
Aurier - Not good enough (Headcase)
Toby - Passed his best & leaving
Vertonghen - On the decline, 1 more year at best
Sanchez - Colombian Chiriches, however Potential
Foyth - Potential
Davies - Not good enough
KWP - Not good enough
Rose - Passed his best & probably leaving
Sessegnon - Potential
Dier - Squad player
Winks - Quality
Sissoko - Good but really a squad player
N’Dombele - Potential
Wanyama - Finished & leaving
Skipp - Potential
Dele - Good
GLC - Unproven
Eriksen - Leaving
Son - Quality
Lamela - Squad player but not good enough
Moura - Good
Kane - Class
Parrott - Potential

So basically we need a new RB, another CB, another CM, an attacking AMF going forward, possibly another ST, to add real quality we’ll need to spend at least another £150/200 million minimum !!!

I just can’t see DL parting with that kind of money, my fear is we could end up selling HK for circa £150+ million & reinvesting that way, similar to Countinho at Liverpool, & Bale years back, hope I’m wrong but knowing how Levy works that’s the most likeliest outcome .......

you lost me at French David James, Hugo is a world cup winning captain. have some respect

Agree with Murphy

Murphy is right on the comments about Poch needing to ditch the diamond and looking to play a 433, but wrong on the personnel.

At this stage there is no coming back for Eriksen, Alderweireld, Vertonghen and maybe even Rose. They should be transitioned out and told to focus on finding new clubs.

So do I. Like Bale before him is not a defender. He may have played there for Fulham but he has hardly a defensive bone in his body.
Indeed. He's a good young player but I doubt he will make much of a difference regarding our defensive fragility.

Agree with Murphy

I agree with him but the thing his analysis overlooks is continuing to play players who arnt fully committed.

He even said it himself, when you go one nil down you mightn't have the desire to get back into the game when you're thinking about your future etc

If we're backing Poch to rebuild he must take that group of players out of the side. If they were performing to their true level it would be a different story but they're not.

Id love to see us go 4-3-3.

This is an example of how the tide turns with result bias.

We've heard about Poch doing this for a while. He's been here five years. This is not something new. Most young managers have training sessions filmed so they can all go over it after.

We are in a sad, sad state now. Everyones sticking the knife in. The players are singing to the press as sources, the club is radio silent, Poch has bolted out of England. I wish these players would put their names on this garbage so we know who should be booed out of the stadium next home game for the shit they are dragging us through. Managers never come back from this unless they fully drop the mutineers. I think if Poch was going to do that, he’d have done so last year when it started. So now Poch probably does have to go.

If anyone thinks it’ll immediately be better, they have lost their minds. We still have a host of players with no future at the club, many of whom are on the last years of their contracts. They will not suddenly start trying. They have no motivation to try for a club they will lame ducks at starting January when pre contracts will likely be signed.

These players have really lost me. I neber thought I would celebrate the day I’d see the backs of Toby, Eriksen(until January 2019 when I first became fucking tired of him) or even Jan who i’ve adored. But that’s where I am right now. So angry at the players. So angry at Levy for clinging on to them for 2 years. So angry at Poch for not doing what he should have and dropped them. It’s like last summer not getting a few wantaways out and getting no one in changed him. Something has to give. Sadly its always the manager but i wish it was the chairman and the players. Oh well, I love Poch but clearly he’ll be made scapegoat. Onwards and upwards. COYS.
