It's all mad.

This is why people on here end up nearly giving themselves a heart attack. They write these fantasy lists that involve selling 15 players and buying 15 replacement - including fantasy values for both sales and purchases. Then when we get to the end of the window and we've sold 2 players, loaned a couple out but only signed 2 players, neither of which were on their list, they end up going into complete meltdown and raging at Levy, the club, Poch, other fans etc....

I really don't know why anyone would want to build themselves up into such a tizz over something that is completely out of their control.

I know it's hard to be patient after 2 windows of no new in-comings, but all we can do to keep some sort of sanity here is to wait and see what the plans are. As JJ alluded too, winning tomorrow and guaranteeing our CL spot next season is the first hurdle we need to get over. I'm pretty sure after that we will see a lot more links in the press, and ITK info regarding our plans for the transfer window.

Its a wishlist thread and I don't take it too seriously as it is mostly just our wishes and opinions, but it's really not hard to be slightly realistic in our expectations.

Glad to hear Gomes isn't in our plans. Never a top 4 player.

You’ve the players we were linked with - Gomes and Kovacic whom have either since split opinions or not lived up to expectations and then the likes of Tielemans and Perreira? Whom we passed on and they’ve done very well with the former excelling. It just shows how difficult it is identifying the right type of player for us. In saying that all 4 have qualities whereas some of the players we’ve been linked with are nothing but average. We either push the boat out for quality or pursue hot prospects, no more middle of the roads players whom have a ceiling below what we need.

Before he bombs tomorrow I thought I'd ask if we've had any ITK on Brooks? He looks such an immense talent and a Spurs kind of player. Him and Wan-Bissaka (aren't him and his family huge Arsenal fans though?) would be my 2

As long as we get top 4 in reality who is above us in terms of attracting players. City Barcelona Madrid. I think everyone else it’s then a debate obviously depending on wages. Would a player pick us over United at the moment if offered 20% less wages. Guess it depends on the individual. But I’d say we can now pretty much throw our hat in the ring with everyone bar the 3 mentioned.

Agree but if we are honest with ourselves so was Dembele until Poch brought out the monster in him. Mousa always had the qualities but was a little bit casual in a part of the park Poch could not tolerate it. Gomes would need to up his workrate and desire on and off the ball. But if you can combine that with his technical ability then you might have something. Just sayin. The key to him being successful as well as any and all other transfers is to get them in for a full preseason.

The problem with Gomes is that he is also extremely slow regardless of how much Poch improves him. There are far better players out there.

Extremely true, but never going to change especially when this sort of thing is encouraged (and engineered dare I say....) because the Transfer bollocks is the main fundraiser for the site.

Our CM options are Winks, Sissoko, Dier and Wanyama. Imo Gomes is better than both Dier and Wanyama so would improve our squad.

He is way down on my list of preferred midfielders but that just shows how easy it should be to upgrade our squad.

First of all, Dier and Wanyama - both DM - plays in a different position than Gomes, who play more advanced.
Wanyama, in his first season, was a beast in MF and if it hadn't been for his injuries he's still be a beast. But yes, right now it's not hard to improve on a half-crocked player who's still not match-fit.
Dier, yes, he's not had a good season but he's coming off a summer in with intense a WC schedule behind him (it's common for players to loss a bit form coming of a WC summer) and's been unlucky fitness wise. Added to that, he's not been given a chance to hold down a specific place in the team, although he's had long runs as DM, of course. And he does provide toughness and steel to the team. And, albeit not a HG player, he's English.
At least give Dier another season to prove himself. Personally I would not have swapped Dier for Gomes...

There will always be a bit of that on here but I personally don't understand it. I don't see the problem in being gutted about not getting a target if you like them.

However, specifically on Andre Gomes, I've posted many times that I don't rate the guy. I'm genuinely glad that JJ has ruled him out because we cannot afford to fuck up our recruitment this summer.
