West Ham are set to complete the £30m signing of Brentford forward Said Benrahma before Friday's transfer deadline. It is understood the Hammers have agreed to pay £25m up front, with another £5m in add-ons.

Think Benrahma will be a very good signing for West Ham.

Still wouldn't want him here though. I've said it before but I think he'll suffer from the "Sigurdsson effect" in a big team. At Brentford and clubs like West Ham he gets to be the main attacking focal point where the team constantly looks to get him the ball and he's afforded the ability to try things and lose the ball. Wouldn't happen here where the level of quality amongst the squad demands the ball being spread around more plus the demand to also put in the defensive work is much greater as well.

Wonder if he’ll be bought in time to play us

Wow really, I hadn't ever heard that. Which obviously proves your point even more.

Sort of. He was convinced, in 2017, of a gang rape in 2013 in Italy, and Brazil don't extradite. The conviction was appealed and in Italian law takes years, so the whole thing is a bit 'pending'.

Admittedly I didn't see much of Brentford last season so I could be way off but when promotion was on for them I watched their last 3/4 games and he, along with most of his other team mates went missing when it mattered. The minute they HAD to win and the pressure was on he disappeared. I could be wrong but I don't want players like that in our side anymore so I'm pleased we didn't go in for him. If West Ham find themselves in a scrap again I'm not sure he's the kind of player you want to rely on.

From Sky. Reeks of a massive conflict of interest with Billy Beane now being involved in the ownership of both clubs.

LIVERPOOL'S KANE DEAL AGREED

Liverpool have agreed a deal with Barnsley for Herbie Kane for a total of £1.25m.

Although currently without a manager, Barnsley’s board, which includes Billy Beane who owns a 10 per cent stake in the club, negotiated a deal that is seen by both parties as a win-win. Liverpool will retain a 15 per cent sell-on clause.

Barnsley have seen off competition from Luton to the permanent signing of Kane. There was also strong interest from Hull and Portsmouth but Barnsley’s was the best offer and showed the most willing to take the player .

There needs to be rules in place. Because now we run the risk of Barnsley being nothing more than Liverpool B.

Not sure where to put this as it doesn’t relate to us directly: but look what Conte has just said about Eriksen

Poor guy. The grass is not always greener.

I do feel sorry for him, it’s a shame how it ended for him at Spurs, and how it’s worked out for him.

I get people being mad at him for wanting to leave and playing badly, but sometimes people go stale and need a change of scene etc. He’s clearly made a massive mistake with the move to Inter.

Conte’s so knobbed up in the head I’m starting to think his wigs are made in Chernobyl.

Not me, the comments he made about wanting to have a better chance at winning trophies, right after he stunk up the Champions league final still irk me.
