It weren't pretty again, but they got the job done.

Getting through was obviously the biggest plus. But seeing Tanguy make it through 90 minutes was something I was beginning to think wasn't possible. So happy with that........COYS

Ndombele for my motm. He was spreading passes, getting in tackles, getting back and covering plus he played a full 90 mins.A fully fit ndombele will be amazing. I was a bit disappointed with winks. His passing range has dwindled so much now compared to what he use to do, I can't tell if he is lacking confidence or has been told to keep it simple but he is going to get shoved out of the middle soon.

Thank god we have Reguilon. Davies is just too slow and weak to be a modern full back.

I didn't see the whole match as my stream was pig awful so this isn't a knee-jerk reply, I've honestly always thought he's a LCB in a 3 that can if needs must can drop in as a left full back.

He had me fooled for half a season when Rose was out injured, I think his crossing was just more reliable than Danny Rose plus our midfield was more robust so it muddied the picture.

Just my opinion.

I'm exactly the same and have stood up for Winks too but it's becoming clearer with every game. Even the metronomic passing that is Winks' specialty, Lo Celso does just as well if not better.

He's just a much, much better footballer in every single way.

Its just hard to be critical of Winks because he's Spurs through and through.

I love him for that but deep down I know he's not good enough to be a regular starter for a team that has the aspirations we do.

Squad player? Hell yes, but not someone who's starting every week in the league.

He's a nice steady Eddie recycler of the ball but I don't think he excels in any other area and you just have to have a bit more going on to become a real influence in the centre of the park.

feels like he was never the same after his ankle troubles

If Winks wasn't home grown spurs through and through I don't think anyone would want to see him near our starting 11 or even the bench.

Tiny bit disappointed with Bergweign, was hoping he'd start to offer a bit more end product but he's still a young prospect and needs more game time to get his confidence up so no worries there really.

Does anyone have a vid of the Lamela goal? All the ones I’ve seen are obviously deepfakes, as if anyone would believe he took the shot with his right foot.

I’d be perfectly fine with him in the role he’s playing if he just had some sort of defensive presence or ability. He just doesn’t have the knack for winning the ball back and he’s not very aware in his positioning defensively.

Yep unfortunately agree, love the guy and would never want to see him sold as he can certainly be a good squad player but doesn't offer enough to be a starting XI player no way.

So annoying that Arsenal won the FA cup forcing us around Europe to play against "amateur" teams.

And why does it have to be 3 games ffs.
They truly fucked us over! I would much rather just have a one off play off.

Yeah that's the crux of it. He's a Spurs boy, has a great character and loves the club but at this point I don't think he'll ever be more than that 'steady eddie'. He might make a nice pass once every 3 games or the occasional good tackle, but in general he's just a bit average (or below average) at everything except short, metronomic passing and maintaining possession.

I do believe every squad needs a player like Winks - a calming influence who will protect the ball and help maintain control - but we need to accept that this is all he is and that he's simply not of the requisite quality to be a regular starter or a true game changer.

You might be right but Jose and Poch before you clearly disagree.

I just don't get the Winks hate today. He was fine and bland as usual first half. Second half he played to sublime passes that should have been goals - from his deep lying role.

And he's not good enough for the bench apparently?

How does Bergwijn escape all this futile hate when he was absolutely anonymous all game but Winks get it all? It's odd. Must be because we all miss Dembele. Well... winks aint ever gonna be that and we know it. but he has qualities that his managers' admire. It makes the people slagging him off so much look a bit silly imo.

Hopefully with Gio and Ndombele starting it will be a moot point.

Man...Ndombele has so much talent.

And Lamela ....heart and soul every time he puts a Spurs shirt on. It may not always work but how can anyone throw shit at him when he gives us everything he’s got.

These games are always very tough for us so I really don’t think we should panic. The first 70 minutes or so the opposition are full of energy but with the ability to bring on quality subs as they tire give us a chance. JM has played this way since the start, getting the team to just play tight and hold the opposition and then unleash in the last fifteen minutes or so. So this game sounds like so many I have seen this year except often we don’t get lucky enough to still be in the game at the end. the Game has so far gone exactly as I expected
Interesting take.

I'm unable to see the game, but my old man is watching it in Spain. According to him we've battered them. That doesn't sound like a team playing tight then unleashing in the last 15. According to the old man it's just poor finishing.
