As much as I love him on the ball, ndombele off the ball is just excruciating. Yes he has a languid style but he just jogs around half-arsed the whole time. I’ve heard jose and Sacramento have to say ‘come on tanguy’ and ‘wake up tanguy’ to him a number of times in that first half.

it honestly looks like a lack of fitness mixed with a lack of effort. Both are unforgivable at this stage.

I want him to succeed at the club so much but this is the first time I’m really worried. I thought the penny would have dropped by now.

As bad as he was off the ball in the first half, he was much much better off the ball second half.

Either Mourinho had a word at half time and it worked (great!), or playing 90 mins actually helped his fitness, off the ball decision making and work ethic. He genuinely looked like he had more energy in the 85th minute than he did in the 5th.

Good signs though! Next step is a full 90 like he was in the second half

(I'm talking strictly about him off the ball. On the ball his quality is unrivalled).

Great reaction from Ndombele after the disappointment of being subbed at half time against Southampton.

Think he has turned a corner. Exciting!

Mourinho has managed Ndombele really well so far this season. It's pretty clear that he started the season really lacking match fitness but the gradual increase of minutes he's had per game is really helping him get going. Credit to Ndombele as well for putting in the hard work to turn his spurs career around.

Dele worked extremely hard and was involved. I’m sure loads of people will be pushing a narrative he didn’t react to recent events and got subbed, load of rubbish in my opinion.

I just love that Lamela only knows one way to play the game, and you can always rely on him to play that way.
This is exactly why I said he is the perfect squad player.

Always gives maximum effort, doesn't kick up a fuss when not playing and can play in 2 or 3 positions. We'd be mad to sell him.

I thought he played pretty well. He was dropping too deep at times into a position I don’t think he brings much too. But when further forward he made things happen.

Dele with Ndombele and Lo Celso would have been interesting to see.

I've stuck up for Winks but it's clear that Lo Celso is such an upgrade on him and unlocks the potential of Ndombele so much better.
I'm exactly the same and have stood up for Winks too but it's becoming clearer with every game. Even the metronomic passing that is Winks' specialty, Lo Celso does just as well if not better.

He's just a much, much better footballer in every single way.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say that Lo Celso has a bit of this about him too.
They breed fighters in Argentina!

Major takeaways besides ndombele is dele working really hard and looking determined, please keep lamela, and I don’t think I’ve wanted to see a player so bad as I do with reguilon right now.

So annoying that Arsenal won the FA cup forcing us around Europe to play against "amateur" teams.

And why does it have to be 3 games ffs.

it does seem excessive. I’m sure it never used to be like that, it was a one off game.

Incredible isn't it. He was clearly our best player for the first 50 minutes.

Son and Bergwijm were our worst. Son obviosly improved when played in position,. Bergwijn didn't perform at all and the team improved when he was replaced by Moura of all people - yet so many on here having a pop at Dele and Winks. Lol

I think we still need a proper defensive midfielder to play with or instead of Hojbjerg.

Yeah it’s early days with Hojberg, but I felt we could do with a more dynamic player in the Kante/Wanyama mould. Or failing that a Rodri or dare I say Carrick/Xabi Alonso type. Where as Hojberg seems neither of those types

Now I realise those are all top class players I’ve mentioned and it sounds like I’m writing him off already, but it’s just my initial observations.

If it leads to Tanguy playing like he did second half it might be a blessing in disguise.
