Genuinely an 70 goal season in all comps with these three, gonna be fun watching them.
6/70 scored and Bale hasn't put his boots on yet. You may need to up that estimate soon. ?

(I'm presuming you meant 70 goals by Kane, Son & Bale, not the whole team).

I can see Kane as a false 9, would be awesome.

I agree entirely, but does remind me of the time Soldado was clearly not going to happen up front but had a good game where he got a couple assists and we all demanded he play in the hole off the striker instead.

And he was useless at that too, bless him.

I’m not expecting Bale to play a lot of games but I am expecting him to score the winning goals in the UEFA final, FA Cup final and the other cup that changes its name every few years. Is that fair?

I don’t imagine those three will play together consistently if you consider injuries etc but the key will be the depth. Moura, the backup striker etc coming off the bench will be the big difference. Last season we saw the impact of the lack of options.

Kane today played like a better version of Roberto Firmino except he also scores goals. If we can add that to our "Salah and Mane" in Son and Bale then we'll be a hugely potent threat this season.

That being said - the way I am reading things on here and Twitter I think some of you are going to be very disappointed with Bale's return. World class he certainly was, but even in an environment where he "feels loved" etc etc etc - he may well not get anywhere close to what he once was, and even though I'm sure he is still a top technical footballer then his injury record means there's a good chance we only see him fit and in good form for a handful of games in the season which would make any discussion of 70 goal hauls from the trio borderline delusional - Kane has had his own injury issues of course.

Son, Kane and 2013 Bale would without question be the best front three in the league. Probably even 2018 Bale as well. Now - I'll wait and see what player has arrived before declaring our front line better than Liverpool's or City's.

Lastly - I think today is going to be an outlier rather than a taste of what's to come. Some superb individual performances today from Son and Kane, with Ndombele and a few others having flashes of brilliance, but don't let the scoreline fool you - we were lucky not to lose, let alone come away with an emphatic win, after struggling badly but being gifted goals from a suicidally high Southampton line. Credit to Mourinho for spotting it and setting up Kane and Son to take advantage in the second half - but I guarantee that most teams will not be this open especially when Bale is in the side - so we are going to have to learn to beat our achilles heel - well organised teams defending deep. Ndombele's improvement and the addition of attacking full-backs might give us that ability but we'll see.

To end on a high though - what really impressed me was how clinical we were today. All of the goals, those that counted and those that didn't, were examples of brilliant finishing and a killer instinct when they gave us hope - compared to say Adams who had the chances to win the game for them but was wasteful. If we dominate the midfield battles and can supply this front three then we'll have a good chance in any game.

Over the last 3 seasons the trio together have averaged around 64 goals in total in all comps and that's with Bale being in and out the Madrid team and Kane picking up freak injuries.

Bearing in mind we're facing a 60 game season with EL, FA, LC and PL matches thrown in, it's not against the realms of possibility, they already have 6, 64 to go ;)

Based on past stats, if all three of them stay fit and in decent form for most of the season, 70 is about what we should expect and 80 is not unrealistic.
Son already has a decent head start on his usual goal return.

I think his passing and eye for the right ball have been underrated for a long time. He definitely has it in him to be a creator.

It's the thought of Reguilon and Doherty combining with Son and Bale on each wing and running at defences that has me drooling. We haven't had that kind of attack across the pitch for a few years.
I will be controversial and say that on current viewing, in my opinion Aurier would the better pick for this. Doherty has not shown me that he is an upgrade on Aurier so far. A marauding Aurier is underrated by most.

I don’t think some people realise how good Bale still is. He’s a yard slower but he was one of the fastest footballers I’ve ever seen, a yard isn’t same for him as a yard for others. He’s still extremely mobile and fast, he picks his moments more but players can’t stay with him.

Get him fit and try and keep him fit with Son and Kane and we can absolutely blow away 90% of teams in this league. Exciting times.

I'm going to piss on everyone's chips here and say that I don't think we will see it as often as we'd like unless;

a) One of Bale or Son become very good defensively
b) We get a new central midfielder and CB who can command things

I don't think we can afford to play the pair sitting high up like that unless our defending improves massively. Today Winks, Dier, Hojbjerg and Sanchez consistently failed to manage the strikers dropping deep and the overloads on our flank.

I don't think the plan would be to play them high, it looked to me like Kane was dropping in and playing false 9 today so could be seeing a Liverpool like setup which copies their front 3.

Which would be fine if we had a midfield three and a CB pair that can police themselves.

Which sounds better; KSB? KBS? SBK? SKB? BSK? BKS?

I like SBK.
