F1 cutting its own throat, disgraceful team orders 7 laps in pointless sport now.

The arguments seem to be funny though, only catching the updates on BBC page for now as out!

They have deliberately kept vettel out so long his tyres have gone to shit and he's now.undercut. authorities should fine Ferrari or stop this bullshit during a race.

Only Mercedes did exactly the same thing last year. Just successfully. Not that it makes it right.
For me Vettel is the only driver to come out of this that I’ve got increased respect for. Leclerc although a future champion in the making ain’t half sounding like a whiney, entitled young driver. I like him a lot but he needs to cut this out and just prove he’s the best with his talent.

Just read this:

"So an agreement was struck. Assuming the getaway from the grid went smoothly, Leclerc would give Vettel a slipstream to allow him to get ahead of Hamilton. Were Vettel to get enough of a tow to challenge for the lead, Leclerc would not put up any resistance, knowing that later in the race they would swap the cars back around, returning the favour he gave via the slipstream on the opening lap."

Vettel was never going to give position back if he was leading the race unless leclerc was a lot faster than him.

I know ferrari want to win the team standings but they need to focus on letting the drivers race and if they get 1-2 then so be it but as long as one of there drivers is taking P1 that should be all that matters.

Yep they were saying that during the race it just cheapens the sport, it's not a.ferrari.thing I would think all teams would do it, but for me F1 is uncompetitive enough without these kind of deals because.hamilton managed to split them on the front row.

How can he prove he is the best when he helps Vettel to get a better start and then gets shafted because Vettel doesn't want to stick to what was agreed/team orders? I was so glad when his car failed and that they kept him out longer so he started to moan his tyres were going off (though still setting good lap times)

I would say Leclerc should be the #1 driver for next season with what he has shown this year and Vettels errors in races and what happened in the last race.

All teams will use team orders, but it's more obvious at the top teams, as they will always push for one of their drivers to be first.

It's hard to control as just just having pit stops a few laps apart can swap a car around, or keeping a car (Mercedes with Botas) out longer to slow cars down could be seen as his strategy to be on faster/newer tyres at the end of the race to help him try and win.

The biggest issue F1 has is the vast quality difference between the top 3 teams and the rest, get that sorted and get it more competitive and it will be harder to do team orders to be done.

Anyone see the Ross Brawn interview on Channel 4 coverage.
Didn't catch it all but talking about reverse grid racing in 2021 season. Not sure what for or how it will affect things. Seems, from the little I saw, he wants the top drivers having to overtake and race more for their points.
Quite understand as some races end up as a procession instead of a competitive race.

Would be the end of qualifying and revenue from that. Cars will go slow if they do qualifying or if it's from points no need to qualifying. All pointless imo

Leclerc didnt seem to have the pace the whole race. He was struggling to get by bottas after seb retired. . Even on lap 6-7 when they were giving seb the order to let him by he was 3 seconds behind.

Could be quite dangerous with slower cars getting in the way at corners etc. There are quite a few crashes between mid-table teams at corners, Riccardo seems to have 2 or 3 in every race, & with quicker cars coming through they're likely to be more problematic.

What’s going on in 2021, I follow F1 but wouldn’t say I’m a big fan atm but they keep saying about rule changes ect, is this to try and make other teams have a chance of winning races.

Really good drive by Lewis yesterday.

Read that Brawn is upset that he was vetoed on the reverse grid idea. I wish Liberty would fuck off with format changes. They should concentrate on getting the technical rules correct to ale sure raving is closer and that cars can follow, then leave the rest to sort itself
