I wonder if our medics are on a similarly generous bonus system to our players. 10k for every player they declare horribly injured.

Serious questions should be asked of the Argentina manager for starting him despite the fact that he'd had zero preseason, genuinely none whatsoever, and was clearly not considered match fit by his club manager. It's long past time that we started taking the United approach and not allowing our players to go off to meaningless international breaks. It's beyond infuriating how many times we've had serious injuries take place in international friendlies. If the international managers don't have the good sense to not start a player who hasn't started a match since June, they shouldn't so much as be given the choice in the first place.

We had good luck in Europe in the 1/4 final and semi final in europa but none in the final and definitely none with injuries and its said luck evens itself out . Well I think we are owed some more good luck on balance.

Our injuries have really been piling up these last couple of years. Didn't we change our medical team a couple of years ago???

Our injuries have been obscene the last few years. You have to wonder what on earth is going on?

I know people say it’s one of those things but as others point out, look at Liverpool. They just never get injuries, strongest 11 fighting fit every single week all year.

It’s just so frustrating that it seems we never ever get to play our strongest team. I mean, what were the chances of signing GLC and NDombele and they both get injured within the first few weeks of the season? Absolutely cursed. We will be lucky to see both play properly in the same side again this side of Xmas by the looks of it.

And I can’t fathom how Poch let’s GLC go to play a friendly when he isn’t fit enough to start for the club in key league games. Mind boggling.

This is why we signed three good players in the summer.

Injuries happen, we have options now. We’ll be fine.

Why did we allow him to go on international duty? Need to start acting like a big club now.
This is spot on. Stupid and short sighted of the player and the coaching staff. For of all things, a friendly. The guy needed to stay back and focus on getting himself match fit to play for the team that pays him a shit ton of money. I’m sorry but this makes me really irritated ?. We need to be a bit more selfish from time to time. And fine, if the guy had been starting and flying from the start of the season, and settled in his new surroundings, then by all means, go play for ur country. But that wasn’t the case on either front. And now he’s out for a spell. And won’t see any significant contributions from him until December at the earliest.

On hindsight might as well played him more in the last 3 games, perhaps we could not have lost to the barcodes at least.

All for easing him into the fitness ffs.. Isn't it now worse. Not like he had been on a binge eating holidays before the season started. He had competitive Copa America games. Is Poch regime really so taxing on the body? If so I guess it takes some pondering. Not only the lads are lethargic and not pressing in games but they are getting injured while NOT playing, i.e during training or for their respective countries.

Copa America ended in early July, and Lo Celso was something of a bit-part player after the group stage. He then got the customary three weeks off, spent a couple of weeks at Betis not fully participating in their preseason due to the fact that his club were negotiating his sale for the largest fee they’d ever received, and then arrived on deadline day at Spurs where he’s been working his way up to match fitness.

He never should have started, let alone been allowed to carry on for 40 minutes after picking up the knock he took. It’s gross mismanagement as far as I’m concerned.

Well, there's still the possibility that our coaching staff encouraged him to play for Argentina hoping for him to gain some match fitness as soon as possible without having to be given a starting place in any league matches while he still was showing some rustiness.

What are you paying for?
I am not paying anything but millions are. Seems right to me that the club should be releasing this information direct and not leaving us to guess whether DP is being fed accurate info or has his wires crossed.

That's completely their choice to pay, they aren't owed anything.

So many people have their wires crossed regarding their role as a football fan...I emphasise the word fan because that's what we are - we're not customers...we're ain't owed shit.

Besides the club did eventually release an official statement, I really fail to see the big deal in a journo releasing the story an hour before it was official.

Nah, we never pick up random injuries do we?
That wasn't the initial statement you made - it was more 'it only happens to us' that I disputed.

I will concede however that this is particularly annoying and concerning as hip injuries tend to be difficult to overcome along hence maybe a longer lay off period to make sure Lo Celso's not rushed back and this turns out a stop start season write off for him.

Tbf, Joe Gomez and AOC had season ending injuries last year, they just have the squad to cope with it.

In all honesty, when it comes to GLC, we've got the squad depth too. I'm still pissed off beyond belief, but we've got three options for the number 10 role in Lamela, Eriksen and Alli, so I can't complain. If we intended to play him in the centre of the park however then that's a different story, so I hope Ndombele is fit for the weekend.
