Tottenham fear summer signing Giovani Lo Celso has suffered a serious injury on international duty. Lo Celso returned to Spurs early following a blow to his left groin in Argentina's 0-0 draw with neighbours Chile on Thursday and he is being assessed by the club's medical staff. The playmaker insisted after the game that his injury was "not something to worry about" but the initial prognosis has left the club concerned that he could be sidelined for several weeks, starting with Saturday's home match against Crystal Palace.

Poch really needs to take a leaf out of Purple Nose’s book and block his players playing in as many internationals as possible.

This why I utterly despise International football.

We sign a brilliant £60m player and every so often we have to loan him out to another team (Argentina in this case) for nothing. He then gets injured by a half-rate clogger and we get neither an official apology or the opportunity to use GLC for a few weeks. At the very least, if a player is injured on International duty the national football federation should pay his wages until fully fit. At the most, I'd honestly support Tottenham Hotspur fully refusing to let any players leave for international duty ever, under any circumstances.

I ask you, what do we, as a club, get from international duty? Injuries, tiredness & players getting tapped up. Scrap it completely.

If you want to sing the national anthem, and wave a little England flag. Watch last night of the fucking proms...

Another injury, what a surprise. And another example of why it was so important to keep Eriksen.

I’m pretty sure they do. If not, the club will have insurance to pay the wages while he’s out.

Not that it makes it any better of course - I agree with your sentiment completely. Internationals during the domestic season should be stopped.

Why do we send him to play for Argentina when he isn’t fit to play for us? Incomprehensible.

He wasn't match-fit. He needed games to get up to speed. (at least, that's what I understand it to be).

Because 'being fit to play for (Argentina's Coach) side' is not the same as 'being fit to play/on the bench for a Mauricio Pochettino side' at all?

Have you considered that a player if deemed injury free by the club, might actually want to represent his country ??.

We're an attractive club for players who want to represent their Country. I doubt Ryan Sessegnon would have been so keen to join if it was obvious we'd try to block him playing international football. Same with Dele, Kane, Winks etc etc etc......,.

Of fucking course. Even when we bloody sign players they all get injured. Utterly ridiculous.

End of October it looks like. Unbelievable - 3 new signings and they’ve played less than a quarter of the available minutes so far and now without Lo Celso for 6 weeks

Just a crazy post !! We knew he played for Argentina before we signed him. Professional football is Club football and International football they go together and it's what makes the sport great!! I loved it when I saw so many of our players in the world cup semis, filled me with pride.
