I think he’s been a terrible captain and it’s taken away from his batting. I’d like to see his averages with and without the captaincy.

Trouble is, who else do you give it to? Broad?

Specialist batsman at 7 is a luxury we can’t afford. He either bats at 6 as a batsman or 7 as a wicketkeeper batsman

Root has to take a lot of the blame poor in the field as captain. Thursday afternoon where the wheels really came off for the umpteenth time in his captaincy cost us this match.
