I have to say I don’t get this one, he at least should have been on the bench.

When asked directly why Verts wasn’t in the squad on Sky Sports after the game, he said, “Everyone that was in the squad deserved to be There”. Read into that what you want. His English isn’t the best, but if you take him on his actual words, it sounded like he was suggesting Verts didn’t deserve be in the squad.

Was he looking up and to the left or down and to the right when he said it? I've been watching 'Lie to me' on TV with Tim Roth in it so you can tell precisely what's going on. Was there a momentary pause before the answer, did he touch his top lip with his tongue, did he break eye contact with the person asking the question or scratch behind his left ear etc. etc. etc.?

On the other hand, he might have wanted Verts 100% for City away and all the other stuff could be a load of bollox.

Might it just be that Poch is doing what he always does early in a season and try out players, formations and tactics in the first month or two?

Maybe he wanted to include GKN, Wanyama and Aurier to say look they are fit and good players so please come and buy them!

Anyway it all had a weird feel

Really don’t fancy loosing Tobey, Jan and Eriksen so close together
To bey, or not to bey?

Bey is a Turkish title for chieftain, traditionally applied to the leaders or rulers of various sized areas in the Ottoman Empire. I´m sure the good doctor sees Mr. Alderweireld as a cieftan or leading figure of our defense - and knowing his (the doctor´s) fondness of puns and wordplay, I can see this as an in character jest from his side.

Alas, the very subtelty of the added ´e´ - as the good doctor usually prefers to be rather more blunt and obvious thus enabling him to reach a larger audience in this forum - suggests that he´s been too roundhanded to himself with prescriptions. His newly added avatar/photo supports and fuels the speculations that he might be in dire straits.

If I was a betting man I would say that Jan maybe returned from holiday unfit or something and this is Poch's punishment.
