Really hope pre season is all that's needed

Not sure who was saying it but remember reading players who have had his injury won't be the same until following season

Regardless if you rate him or not this was his first season back after an ACL. Nobody comes back flying after an ACL. Usually it takes at least one season to readjust if not longer. Personally I find it very surprising he hasn’t picked up more muscle injuries.

Maybe he ends up a squad player or maybe he gets back to his best. Ether way we won’t know until next season.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Personally I don't think he's good enough.

Never takes control of a game and doesn't do enough either defensively or in attack to make himself indispensable.

He's like a not as good Dembele.
Disagree with this. Before his ACL he was head and shoulder above any other player we had last season. If he ever gets back to that level is a different question, but he has the the ability and we have seen it

Probably should have said my view was based on this season because you're right he has been good for us previously.

But I'm not convinced he's ever going to get back to those levels unfortunately and at the moment he's a passenger when he plays.

Was going to say this. Rarely does a anyone, let alone a footballer, come back from an ACL injury like that unchanged.

It was his injury that was partly responsible for our season going completely off the rails last year imo. He's absolute class when he’s on it.

Just needs time imo.

It's not just the injury though it's also adapting to the system. He came into a Conte team and then got injured and returned to an Ange team. He was essentially in pre season mode and then got injured again so had to come back again.
