And to think he was being called the signing of the summer after the first couple of months of the season. This Maddison is unrecognisable from that one. He's much more of a prick (and not in a good way) than he was back then as well. I don't know if that's frustration because he knows he's not playing well or what but he needs to wind it in.

One of the worst players in the last 5-6 games for us. Unlucky not to pick up couple of assist due to some poor finishing in recent games but even then his overall game is just bad now. He was one of the best number 10s in Europe at the start of the season, pretty much opposite lately. Him and Bissouma were dominating teams and now they make us worse. Still a good signing and he will get us 10+ goals/assists combined (would be more if he could stay healthy), but also disappointing knowing how good he can be.

In general tho I still think he’s a good player I just don’t think he’s a game changing player. I think he plays well if/when the players around him are playing well but I haven’t seen him pull a team forward when then rest are out of sorts which is what the very best do. I think he will be an asset next season but my biggest concern is if Ange continues to view him as undroppable when fit.

Agreed.

He could be invaluable to rotate in and out or bring on later in a match to inject some nous and craft in the final third and not to mention his personality and character in the squad but he can’t be relied upon as our main contributor and talisman if we want to reach new heights.

I heard the crowd react and saw that Maddison was on the floor.

My very first thoughts was "oh it's Maddison, probably wasn't a foul"

Then the replay showed it was a dive.

It's a bit sad when your own teams fan is expecting you to dive.

What personality ? His cheeky chappy, dart throwing one ?

I think people are over-reacting on Madders, just as they were over-excited with his form in the beginning of the season.

He is a different player to Bowen but at the same level in the PL footballing order. Someone who can be as good as anyone on his day. However across a season there will be days in which he doesn't perform, and on those days he would have no impact. Foden and Saka use to be like that but they've improved.

At his age, the upside is limited. However I think he could still improve by figuring out what he could do better on his off-days. Take out the diving and controlling his mood would be a first.

Physically looks off it and everything looks a struggle. Earlier in the season was popping up everywhere, able to get himself out of tight situations with quick nimble feet but at the moment everything looks a second or two slower and being read by the opposition.

Come on, he’s come across very well thus far off the pitch and is obviously a big presence in the dressing room.

I’m saying this isn’t enough however to maintain an untouchable/undroppable status and absolutely there needs to be healthy competition for that AM role as clearly Lo Celso isn’t fancied long term by Ange and in actual fact both players have proved to be less than durable so we need to address this come the summer.

I’m not that fussed what he’s like off the pitch to be totally honest. He looks like the player i thought he was at Leicester. Ok in parts but the reality didn’t match his hype.

Agree. He seems to be playing angry/frustrated.

Needs some time on the bench to kickstart him and because Kulu/Gio deserve a bloody game in his position, Ange has given Madders more then enough chances now.
