Not sure about this idea of him being at the car park. Sky have someone their and didn’t mention anything and we all know they would be desperate to

Southampton have a deal sheet in for an unknown defender. Hopefully not Rose or KWP

According to The Athletic, some pop up comic which didn't exist until about ten minutes ago with writers no more credible than us lot in here (though admittedly slightly less mad).

But it fits yanks 'I hate Levy' rhetoric so he chooses to believe it over the numerous outlets saying it's not happening.

How anyone can hate Levy today is mind boggling, simply agenda driven.

But he was there so what are you talking about. And their writers are a lot more credible than you and I.

This 'pop-up comic' has shaken up the whole UK media and have signed a wide array of respected journalists, including David Ornstein.

And Danny was there per the Moose at Talksport.

I appreciate you probably didn't want to believe the news at the time though so were being harsh as a coping mechanism! (So glad it fell through)

We did leave Rose behind from our Asia tour to find a new club. Would it really be surprising if we did consider selling him to Watford at the last minute?

All I've read from of 'The Athletic' is what I've seen in the screenshots posted here and it all appears to be poorly written conjecture, in fact worse, uninteresting poorly written conjecture. They seem like the type of people who would start two consecutive sentences with conjunctions, ask questions without using question marks, and use 'I' when they mean 'me'.

(That last part is meant to be a joke... I know this isn't the 'what our opponents are saying about us' thread :cautious:.

The Moose, who also said yesterday that there was no chance we would sign Lo Celso?

If Danny Rose was at Watford without our permission, and judging by our flat refusal of Watford's transfer bid he would have had to have been, then it would be a massive story and all over the place. We aren't that used to him being a bit unpredictable that this would be just swept under the rug.

I imagine that while we would have liked to have sold him and were very open to it, it wouldn't have been during the final hour of the transfer window with no replacement in place while we were trying to tie up two other major transfers.

There's a bit of a difference between something that was most likely brash opinion and a sighting.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Danny's Agent asked him to pop over to Watford, a pretty short drive away, with Watford considering making a bid. I think a lot of protocols go out of the window on deadline day.

I have no idea what Sky's live coverage was as I was at work but having seen the post from the athletic, the news of the failed bid and the the news from Talksport of him leaving it seemed like a pretty straightforward situation to me.

You do you though, you could be right as I certainly can't validate the reports myself.

Edit: As for the Athletic. I've taken the free trial and there are some great pieces on there already. The piece on modern transfers and the what's app is excellent (Adam Crafton I believe).

It would behoove player & club to clear up what happened today.

Need to understand if he’s trying to get out or if we are trying to push him out. Unless the former is true, the latter would be crazy.

As for The Athletic, can’t speak to what they are launching here for football, but here in the States they are a pretty serious operation.

They’ve hired a lot of good reporters who used to be the beat writers for newspapers covering teams and a number of prominent columnists and are a pretty serious player on this side of the Atlantic.

Looked like that was what they are trying to do in UK as well, but may have some kinks to work through.

Have we got any ITK on this. Something is clearly wrong with both the club and Danny. I am not sure if he is pushing or is it Spurs?

What would be crazy would have been to sell him last minute. We have no current cover for him with Davies being injured and all the crap being talked about Sess being able to cover is wishful thinking at best.

All I do know is he is currently the best we have at RB when he is fit. Davies is more suited to playing on the left of a three. He has not got the attacking skill and pace of Rose.

January is going to be interesting if we go into the market for a LB and RB as they will need to come from a home grown pool which is not rich in talent or already at our main rivals.

To me it sounds like both club and player were open to him moving on if the right move came along. Then when Watford became interested right at the end he was most likely told to head to their training ground so things could be completed quickly if we accepted a bid which, obviously, we didn't. Now he just comes back and resettles into the team
