ITK's were passing on info that was good at the time. Things change very quickly, specially late on, so not surprised 100% of the info is a certainty.

Makes sense. Although an element of risk seeing Eriksen can leave in the next couple of weeks. Saying that we have more depth now and will need to deal with it if he does.
Don’t forget we were gunning it for Dybala too- I think he was seen as a better player to bring in if Eriksen was to go

GLC was PRIORITY! A lot of gamesmanship goes on. Had we signed BF, we would not of signed GLC. Had CE decided to go to yanited (let’s say), we would of bought in BF also.

What this did was force (reluctantly) Betis’ hands, as GLC desperately didn’t want to miss out in this move.

Makes complete sense with LoCelso being much more versatile and especially with the price Sporting had supposedly put on Fernandes.

Wondering was the Dybala bid all about trying to force Eriksen out or a better option than GLC ? Also I am not thinking of Eriksen goes we will bring someone in during the January window as a replacement

Don't think it was anything to do with Lo Celso. He was Poch's number 1 priority. Dybala was a better option than Fernandes, especially at that price, and if we'd got him I think Eriksen would be getting the push.

I feel a bit sorry for Fernandes. It seems he was little more than a make weight or a bargaining chip. He's a quality player and deserves more than that!

That's what you get when you sign for the bigger Portuguese teams. They always hold out for a load of money simply because they can. A fair price for him would be 40-45m imo, and at that price he could have moved. No one was ever really in for him at 60-70m I don't think.

I bet we delayed this cause we were unsure of Eriksen leaving.
The bold thing to do would have been to sign Fernandes this summer - or Maddison last summer - and then be in a position of strength with Eriksen. But of course we're now in a bad place, where Eriksen either goes tomorrow/Monday or for free next summer.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we signed Dybala or BF in January
