I suspect this is as much about the project that Ange is trying achieve as the financial side. Moving away from the old approach and those who are not invested or capable of the new approach. Removing the distraction to focus on what we are trying to build. There is clearly a gamble to it but it...
After preseason I'd be surprised if he went. That said, he's not a first choice and it feels like there is a potential to make a huge dent in our wages by getting rid of older stars (harry, lloris, hojbjerg) and players who commanded big fees (ndomble, lo celso). Without the income of Europe it...
Looking at the bench today we didn't have another striker to come on. It feels like we definitely need someone else in that position, especially if Son is starting on the left.
Ange has a tried and tested system. A 442 out of position which converts to a 235 with inverted full backs when attacking. A desire to be a protagonist in games, using possession as a means of defence and squeezing the play to win the ball back quickly. Honestly it's seems like a refreshing...
I feel like it would be Son or Richarlison playing on the shoulder and the money would be used to strengthen elsewhere to make sure we have players who fit the system.
This target must be tactical otherwise surely tomiyasu would have be all sewn up. We have lots of solid players in the middle without much penetration so it seems we are going with attacking full backs to try and make things happen whilst staying compact in the middle.
I'm struggling to see this happening:
The player doesn't seem like he wants to come.
It's a huge amount of money and we are already splashing a lot on a defender in Romero.
Romero seems like a Toby replacement.
We seem to already have tomiyasu lined up.
We've got rid of Foyth but we don't need...
It feels like it could turn into the summer of '13. We knew Bale was going and he eventually left in September. We did our buying before we sold, bringing in 6 players for sizable fees which gave us about a zero net spend.
I agree. As much as I like Trippier and Davies I think we benefit more from pace and power on the wings. I think we DO need to replace Walker with a similar player and I also think we need to do our best to keep Rose.
It wouldn't surprise me if this has been brought up bearing in mind how thorough we are being and how we want to keep all option open as long as possible.
I don't agree with the interpretation that this would indicate we are behind schedule.
The Guardian report on last night's Europa league game says the track was covered with a makeshift green sheet and that the capacity was 54k. It should be 60k when the season starts.
The article says that we are causing the delay to Chelsea because they don't want to share. In reality, and based on our experience, it always seemed optimistic to suggest they would be so far along to want Wembley at the same time we do.
