Agree on the back three but I used the word "Conte" when I said it and received much negativity :D
Not sure about it all being conditioning. If he could get away with losing some muscle then he'd probably be ok, but he needs it and that's going to way him down.
Eessentially that Ange wants to overhaul central midfield with only Sarr and Maddison safe. Bentancur the club are giving more time to in hopes he gets back to his best.
I thought he looked done by the 70th minute. He's fast but he's big and the amount of running our fullbacks get through might be too much for a lad of his stature.
If we're at the start of a journey then Europa league is a decent amount of growth for the first year. Given that we are also looking to shift a lot of players, we'd probably way too unsettled for the UCL and likely having our arses handed to us. I think Europa gives us a perfect place to grow...
I think he can work well off both flanks?? IIRC originally in Dortmund he was known more for playing off the left. Then he came to UTD and that was Rashford's slot so he went to the right and never looked the same.
I must be in the minority. I thought he looked back to his best in there last night. Lots of great touches on the ball, always showing for it and controlling things.
Now there's a thing. He's turned things around back at Dortmund and is homegrown to boot. I had wondered whether or not he'd be on our radar.
Edit: Actually, am I talking out of my arse regarding the HG status? He went to Germany at a young age.
I don't think we played badly at all. We lacked quality at times and there were some wayward passes that gave City opportunities to score but we moved the ball from front to back slickly. Maddison looked like he was back to his best last night.
Is it a case that the people writing on skysports don't know that Uruguay exists or did they see the sun on the flag next to Bentancur's name and think Argentina?
Same. UCL isn't in our hands and tbh I'm fine with Europa for blooding our youngsters. If nicking a point vs City and beating Sheffield UTD guaranteed things then I'd maybe wish otherwise but it doesn't so tonight means nothing for us.
Neither Werner nor Johnson are the type of winger who from a standing start will face up their man and dribble past them. Werner moves well off the ball but naturally wants to come in on his right, Johnson is fast and gets on the end of balls slipped behind the opponents back line but it's not...
Rooney strongly criticising the players. Reckons some of the injured ones could make it out on to the pitch if they wanted to and will be fine for the FA Cup final and Euros.
