    I'm not knocking the idea but it's not, theoretically, any better than playing Emerson at left back. To clarify, I like Emerson, I don't intrinsically blame him, and I would have been tempted to do what you suggested. But it seems that as a criticism of the manager its lacking substance

    It's a perfectly reasonable suggestion. But it would still have meant someone playing out of position at left back but also breaking up a centre back partnership that know each other. Doesn't that just move the weak point to a different area?
