They could. 10cm is a pretty solid margin though. I just think they suck at displaying it as a margin of error. Anything close but over 10cm looks like the lines are on top of each other.
Oh I've been doing stuff like that since the before VAR era. I think they way they make the lines bigger causes problems. They should have always included the distance offside in the image too. If it said something like "Offside by 12.3 cm" and they included that on every single VAR image...
I tried drawing my own lines using the vanishing point method. Obviously not as accurate as the software they use. When the ref draws the lines it produces a 1 pixel line somewhat like the image I made. The software then makes the lines wider (I believe to represent 10 centimeters) and if...
