I think Johnson and a CB is the absolute minimum that would be acceptable at this point for me.
If we can get those 2 then at least we're fairly covered and have actually done something in the final few weeks of the window, even if it's pretty unspectacular.
If we don't get some kind of...
Only have 3 left wingers instead of 4? Gonna be a struggle given all the competitions we're in...
But seriously, ignoring the Fati nonsense we do badly need to sign a right forward and a CB or we've fucked it.
Bit embarrassing to get pipped to the post by Brighton but the deal made very little sense to me on so many levels.
Like, he's obviously v.talented, but as a very expensive straight loan for a predominantly left sided player (our most over-stacked position) who doesn't really seem like a...
Hmm bit weird if just a straight loan.
Levy attempting to appease the fans with a big name post-Kane, even if it's temporary?
Think we defo need to sign Johnson on a permanent too if there's no option for Fati.
Wonder if this increases the chances of Perisic leaving too given our numbers up...
In a weird way he might work better at a top team where he has less y'know actual defending to and can play that role you're describing. He's not bad on the ball when he's got time and he's solid defensively when he's not exposed 1v1.
If he is exposed 1v1 in a high line then he's an absolute...
Yeah... at least Fati with an option would mean we're planning for the long term and could be lining up Fati to replace Son.
If we get Fati on loan without an option we could feasibly have 3 left wingers that won't be at the club next season (Perisic, Fati and Son). When we have 3 games a week...
Yeah I get the impression this one's done in principle and Forest are getting all their ducks in a row.
Of all the purported signings this one seems by far the most likely to me.
Also says that his dad prefers him to go on loan to Sevilla...
Taking my Spurs hat off, Sevilla does seem like a better loan move for him tbh. Stays in Spain, likely gets more minutes than he would at Spurs, European football, less physical league.
Would much, much prefer Fati on loan with an option, personally.
He's the type of player you really want to test drive in the Prem first before you pay mega money given his injury record and the much more physical nature of the league.
He's got potential to be great but he's exactly the type...
Yeah...
I guess if we take a longer term view it's all but certain Perisic will leave next summer and I think it's also fairly likely Son moves on too, what with him being 32, only having a year left on his contract and his powers starting to wane.
Just not sure how the minutes will balance...
I still don't really get the logic of buying Johnson, Fati and no striker.
Unless we sell a forward we'd have Rich, Son, Fati, Kulu, Solomon, Perisic, and Johnson competing for 3 spots in the team with no European football. And arguably not a single one of them is a proper striker (I still see...
Personally I'd prefer it if we just bought one of Fati and Johnson (probably Johnson as I think he's far, far less risky) then saved a ton of money to buy a top striker in Jan or next summer once Ange and the club have a clear target in mind.
I don't think it makes sense to overload the club...
