I don't think height is our problem at set pieces. It's zonal marking and our players being rooted to the spot along with Vicario getting no help dealing with players that are just there to shove him about.
He's been available for games for quite a while now and whilst other players have repeatedly failed to turn up, he's been sat on the bench and given a handful of minutes. That's Ange's call, nobody else's.
Sounds about right to me. Our players seem to be rooted to the spot when corners come in, so the only way they're going to 'win' a header is if everyone else misses it and it hits them on the bonce.
Have just read that we've conceded 14 goals from corners this season. 14!!!! That's diabolical and has to be dealt with. Get rid of this zonal marking bullshit and stop opponents from getting to Vicario. Fuck me, it's not rocket science!
There are a few players that are difficult to trust at the moment. Some of them start most of the games. Gio, imo, has livened things up every time he's come on lately, and has done more in a few minutes than others have done with so much more time to impress.
As others have said, I think it's the system, not the keeper that's the problem. He needs somebody physically strong to keep opposing players away from him. Nobody was even close to Ben White when he was getting in Vicario's face and it's been just like that for months. It's a very obvious...
Nobody seems willing or able to attack the ball on defensive set pieces. Time and again our players are static and completely passive when the ball comes in. Should have been identified and dealt with months ago. And why isn't one of our players stopping Ben White from getting in Vicario's face...
Try not to read what they write. It's the equivalent of being dying of thirst in an open boat surrounded by salt water. It's tempting, but it will fry your brain.
If those are the options we're left with I'd sooner play Dragusin at RB and Emerson on the left. I'd prefer Davies at LB though, but in either case Mickey will have his work cut out covering across.
Newcastle pressed the fuck out of us and, for some unknown reason, we decided it was a good idea to encourage them to do so by faffing around at the back and letting them win every 50/50 ball. We failed to engage in any area of the pitch.
We certainly need to stop coughing up possession so cheaply when we attack. It's been a problem for a while now where we give the ball away time after time. Unfortunately, we don't have a 'hold up' option at the moment.
