This football club has now hijacked my dreams, slept like a log after we beat Everton 6-0 at Goodison Park with Poch back. I am back in the room. Has he gone yet?
But managers are important. Klopp proves it. Salah, Mane and Firmino were not world class players. Poch proved that.
People can harp on about Poch failing with a great first XI. But without getting any decent investment in the bench players, he still has us playing UCL and PL. Klopp got the elite players he wanted and delivered. Managers can influence teams by getting the squad to improve.
The fact his family haven’t moved over suggests this was never a long term gig.
Where have I got that from? Must have been getting confused…. It doesn’t take much.
Honestly one of the best posters on these forums.Who are these players though that he claims are selfish and letting down manager after manager after manager?
We got a boatload of new ones for Jose, and the same for Conte. The last two/three years there has been chop and change to about 75-80% of the squad.
People will say it's the Dier/Davies/Sanchez's, or the lingering ghosts of your Winks or Ndombele's, but the three main ones who have been there throughout all this and are the dressing room leaders/seniors are Lloris, Kane, and Son. If there is a continuing problem of culture/attitude they surely have a big part in it.
And actually you know what, you can see that in the performance today. I've skimmed through a few bits on here and straightaway it's the predictable fucking useless Dier and Davies this, fucking useless Perisic and Hojbjerg that...... Go back and watch the second half of that game, it's some of your "star boys" who cause as much of a problem and completely fail to set any standards themselves.
This was another match where when the going started to get tough, Son and Kulu decided to stop running back to help and hung their central midfielders out to dry. Kane lets himself get bullied far too often when the chips are down and in the last 10 mins at least three times put in zero effort to collect a ball that was dropping about a yard away from him, just letting Soton have it to launch another wave of attack on us. Even Romero, in the moments after us going 3-1 up he twice got caught dawdling on the ball putting us under pressure and spent the last 15 mins rampaging about and getting taken out of the game left right and centre and causing issue after issue.
Weaker players might not have the ability, may also have the wrong attitude, and need replacing. Some of our best/established players might well be that ability and even importance wise out on the pitch but if we accept these criticisms of the team as true then they have to be the ones who are also culpable for rotten culture amongst the players.
Conte might not be wrong in what he says.... But he still picks these players who he thinks have a bad attitude and commitment and personality. He probably doesn't help the atmosphere amongst the players by constantly picking his favourites and only certain rotations. And in any case should in no way mitigate against the deficiencies in which he is going about his work in terms of the football, tactics, and whatever else.

It started to go wrong for Conte when we made the "club signing" Spence. This was a critical position for his system and he clearly wasnt happy we got him a kid from the championship. I felt the negativity started from Conte then. If we had signed Porro instead, i genuinely feel things may have been different. As always with Levy, it is always ifs and buts. However, Conte should have at least given the club signings a chance.
For all those lauding Conte...take a look at some calm analysis of the Soton match. Start at 4.45
Baffled pundits 'Spurs are 3-1 up and playing well and then Conte does this '
Completely idiotic Conte tactics. HE played a big part in the collapse. Old school footie from a dinosaur.
you don't wash your dirty linen in public ever - and you never ever dig out your players - ;et it end he needs to go now
Alasdair Gold:I’ve calmed down and since thinking there was no way he wouldn’t be sacked, despite the fact he absolutely should be, I’m now fully expecting an article in the morning by one of the Spurs beat journalists, probably Ali Gold, following along the lines of “football.london understands that Conte’s passionate outburst was intended to produce a reaction from the players for future games and was not critical of the club or the board.”
Which would obviously be board-fed bollocks to calm the baying mob. I could also be wrong and we may (and should) wake up to a club announcement about Conte’s dismissal. Let’s see how the club twists it.
Falling at the final hurdle would be sweet relief compared to the last 3 or so years of shit. Of course we have a massive mentality issue. But we haven't been as shit as 'monster mentality winners' mourinho and Conte all the time either.Even when Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea have had pretty average teams they always seem to pick up trophies. We have a huge mentality issue engrained in every inch of the football club. Top to bottom we need to change. You saying we’ve had multiple different footballers proves it, because no matter who we sign they fall at the final hurdle. Whilst other clubs, clubs who win things, can pick up, say, an FA cup with a bang average side.
Unless Levy agrees with Conte of course and wants to deflect the blame onto the players?
Alasdair Gold:
“Conte is understood to have clarified his comments to the board after the game and indicated that they were aimed solely at the players.”
Incredible
I suspect you’re right on the transfer front. It’s also now coming out that he was fed up with the players before the World Cup. I suspect he lost a lot of them in Korea when he was asking them to do all that fitness and then play matches afterwards. I don’t think it’s a coincidence at all.
Players Union - doing exactly what Conte said, making excuses for the players.
LOL! What a coward. 20 years of failure is down to the players? It's obvious something that comes from the top down.Alasdair Gold:

Yep but really don’t think he’s going anywhere until the end of the season. We know he has zero future here so it's best he goes and give interim role to Mason until end of season whilst actively looking to bring in a permanent manager to start the day after the last PL game
It has to be an attacking style manager or Tuchal
