I hear all that. This is on ENIC! Sorry!
You don’t bring in a manager like him, and don’t really back him. We sll know what kind of manager he was before we took him on.

There is day to say this. Thats not today.
Today was unacceptable. Thats on players & managers, where we want to hear it or not...

Kane has not had a touch till 19min 44 sec... Midfield was non-existent. There was nothing happening. Today was on him to change the formation at HT. Villa were playing 6 at the back till they scored. There was no need to keep playing a back 3 & ineffective midfield. We could have dropped a CB, brought a extra body in midfield and gone for it.

Well that is partly his fault. We’ve spent 200m since he arrived in two windows. He needs to take some of the blame for the failure of our summer window.

200m for 7 or 8 players is horribly low in comparison to what you pay for quality. Don’t mistake quantity for quality. You also have to account for hits and misses. Only 2 of those players were hits. Bissouma will probably be the 3rd and that’s it.

We have made significant signings in the last 2 windows. I didn't anticipate that things would go this direction after the level of improvement last season. I thought we had laid the foundations.

Right now I think the make up of this team looks like it was built for Poch and not Conte. I am very keen to see if the club is willing to build a Conte team.
Remember that Bentancur, Richarlison and Kulusevski were out today... so yes.. today there were many "Poch-players" available :) ...

I'd get the blame on players or individual mistakes here and there if those mistakes were being made against the run of play, or in tight matches. For instance.

'We were 2-1 up and bossing it and Dier goes and does that'.

'We were caning Arsenal 2-0 with 80% possession and 18 shots on target and then Sanchez gives away 2 penalties in the last 2 minutes'.

'We played some great stuff today but one silly mistake cost us'.

'Shame Lloris couldn't save that shot for the equaliser but proud of the team today'.

But it's none of those, we play terrible defensive football - badly, are 'happy' to give the other team 70% of the ball and then surprised when the other team manage to score first. So, we go out the next week and do the same again. It doesn't matter who we play, or which players play for us, it's always the same.

When we take the shackles off the players start to look better, and it's no surprise that when we attack more in the last 20 minutes the defence also looks better and gets further up the pitch, because they're not under constant pressure anymore.

Conte must change his approach as this style does not work, if he can't see it and can't think of any other way to set this team up then he has to take some blame. If he can't and we continue to play like this then he won't last much longer.

Nonsense. We’ve spent lots of money, we’ve just totally wasted it
Lol. Laughable. Spending and backing is different. Why is this never understood. Spence is clearly not Conte's player. We can spend 200 millions on players but it will be useless if they are not what the manager wants.

It's depressing enough without a Jose debate lads.

I can see Conte quitting. Honestly she is so proud and emotional I wouldn't be surprise if he goes early.

Players know Conte won't be here next season. It's the same old story. It's Levy that needs to pack his bags, heavenly laddened with THFC profits.

I thought he was backed in the summer?

People seemed pretty pleased with our summer transfers.

Of course we could back him more and you can see we are still in need of players, but we still have a decent core of players that a manager should be getting better results from.

So whilst I agree we need more players, I don't feel that Conte is getting the most out of the players we have and I fear he is to stubborn in sticking to his system, rather than adapting and making the most of what we have until we get more of what he wants.

He was never going to be given 300 million to rebuild the whole team at once, so surely there needs to be some middle ground here.

Yes, we can blame Enic, but when you look at the performances, you'd expect more from the squad we do have as well,

That's where I think Conte will sadly fail and I want him to succeed. He's too stuck on playing a system where we don't have the right players to make it work. Until we do, it's his job to find an approach that works with what he has. It's pointless playing the same way and watching the same thing unfold and then passing the blame on to Enic by saying things won't change until we spend another 100 million.

Yeh but there were signs of what Arteta was trying to implement ages ago with the high pressing. Even at our best personnel wise we are a limited passive mid block team.

There were the signs but guess what? The arsenal fans wanted him out. If they got their way he wouldn’t have lasted 2 seasons.

Did you not see how well we played under Conte during the second half of last season? We were easily the second best team in the league. He deserves time.

If Conte goes due to lack of backing, I won’t be able to support the club in the same way whilst ENIC are owners as what’s the point? They will have shown, with no room for doubt/hope anymore, their hand that they don’t want to match the ambition of our rivals.
The problem is the club couldn’t give a fuck about legacy fans. They’d prefer packing the place out with tourists every week as they spend more.

Everyone forgets how long Arteta has had to implement that style of football and that it’s ONLY JUST started to kick in for them in his season.

Conte is never going to stick around for that long, though. Back him now, or let him go and we start again (again).

The lack of meaningful action for wing backs in the summer is even more baffling in hindsight. It’s been a defining feature of the way he plays and we signed one player he didn’t want.
Exactly.

Wing backs are one the most important areas of a Conte team.

Conte gets Perisic but is made to compromise at RWB with a kid he doesn't want.

Chelsea would have spent huge in this department.

Arsenal would have backed Arteta and spent 50m a piece.

Talks about getting a big CB (Bastoni, Gvadiol mentioned) and we bring in a CB who has struggled at Barca on loan?

What sort of a message does that send? What sort of ambition is that?

The only area I feel Conte was really backed was with Richarlison and that was a player who was more of a alternative attacker.

Arteta has a plan and plays attractive football. Conte doesn’t and sets his teams up like prime Stoke City under Pulis but shitter.

I want him gone and I want us to find a young, hungry manager with a long term plan and stop chasing ‘elite’ managers who are on the decline. I don’t care how long it takes.

Disagree....to say this game, is not on Conte and giving him a free pass is laughable.....

Your captain, vice captain, other senior pros like Son, Hojbjerg, Davies, Lenglet, Romero all have stinkers in one game...and as a manager you bring on namesake subs and playing in same 3-4-3 even though there is no players - it falls on the manager

If there was a game where a manager has to be blamed, it is today...
Levy not backing him is beside the point. Here, in this game, we didnt have the resources to play 3-4-3.
We should have gone to 4-2-3-1 after we went a goal down.

If a defence is leaky with a numerical advantage in the middle, how on earth would we be better off with less players in the backline? The quality of the players doesn’t magically change with the formation. Even though Conte favours the 3 CB method, we would be way more open at the back with only 2.

Honestly, it’s just the end of the era when we were good.

We’re about to replaced in the top 6 by Newcastle, and every other member of the otherwise big 6 is MUCH better placed than we are for sustainable success.

Genuinely, I see:
- Son and Kane leaving, for not very much, for various reasons
- us definitely missing out on top 4
- as a consequence, with how strong the other teams are, we revert to a perennially mid table side
we're still a rich club with great infrastructure, there's no reason why we can't be "good" again.
