If he’s still at Juve end of the Window,I’ll be more confident , still quite a few options for him atm

Same here. I'm still not keeping my hopes up because
A) Levy doesn't do a lot of buying in the January transfer window
B) He will probably be gone
C) It takes players normally half a season to mesh in with the Poche system

Just three weeks to go before the window closes across Europe. This and Eriksen are the interesting ones remaining

D) He might have lost interest anyway

I'm sure we retain our interest but there is very little we can do for the next three weeks but reassure Dybala that we are still interested and will try again in January, the problem is that we can't guarantee anything.
There will surely be interest in him for the next three weeks so if the image rights aren't a problem on the continent I can't see him still being available, if he is I guess we could assume that the image rights thing is insurmountable or hope that they are and that he is still ready to come to us. It requires a whole bunch of things to run in our favour and it would be a bloody change for us if they did so I wouldn't lose any sleep hoping this will happen just file it away and see where we are come the new year.

Reluctantly agree.

He could refuse other clubs if he’s determined to come to us, and it seems this was the case. But those bastard image rights- if they are insurmountable to resolve then we lose a golden opportunity to sign an excellent player, which, as you say, doesn’t usually happen for us

It would be a game changer certainly. And next level. But we have signed Ndombele and Lo Celso who by all accounts are excellent players. Though I was getting ready to book a day off work to go and buy my Dybala shirt!!!

Ally Gold's take on the Dybala situation from his Q&A today:

Were it not for the image rights mess, Paulo Dybala would be wearing a Tottenham Hotspur shirt right now. In an ideal world Spurs would look to return for the Argentine in January or try to do a deal for him in the coming weeks for the player to join in the winter as they work on sorting out the image right problems. However, events at Juventus might end up forcing the player out sooner than that. Maurizio Sarri has hinted that Dybala could end up being one of the foreign players left out of the club’s Champions League squad if he stays because Juventus have a bloated squad at the moment. There is one school of thought that leaving him out of the Champions League squad means he won’t be cup tied in January, but UEFA have changed the rules so being cup tied is no longer really a thing if you move mid-season.

The prospect of missing out on Champions League football for the next four months might force the player to consider his options now. With Neymar looking likely to leave PSG, the French side are expected to come in for Dybala and with their financial might, his image right issues are unlikely to pose a problem and they can offer him far bigger wages then he is on. All eyes will be on that brewing situation over the coming weeks.

I am pretty sure that a player or his advisors would not do anything hasty for the sake of four months without CL particularly as it is just the group stages. If anything I would be even less pleased with my current club and more inclined to hold out for the club of my choice and less inclined to let them force me somewhere else to suit them.

We can work to buy him now, just can register with Fa til Jan!

Honest question. Theoretically, if this deal was proposed, would you all do it?

Eriksen + 25m to Juventus for Dybala
Eriksen leaves now for Juventus
Juventus agrees to not register Dybala for Champions League, therefore he'd be eligible in January to be registered for Spurs in Champions League
Dybala joins Spurs January 1st 2020.

Positives, we get Dybala in January and can use in in Champions League.
Negatives, we get neither for the first half of the season.

Verdict? I'd say 100% I'd do this. Thoughts?

The rules over being cup tied for European competitions were abolished last year.

I'm not sure of the exact details but there was a rule change recently regarding January signings being registered for Champions League. I'd even try Eriksen sticking with us until Jan should it not be him being cup tied but I'm being delusional.

Can see it now, PSG end up with both of our last minute super targets (Dybala and Coutinho) after selling Neymar. Such a shame things didn't work out for us. I'll forever hate the term 'Image Rights'!

It's going to happen isn't it?

PSG sell neymar for $120M + Coutinho, and use the cash to buy Dybala...2 for 1

Some murmurings starting to appear about a potential January move. Hopefully everything falls into place and we keep working on this.

Wonder if, and this is hugely optimistic, we could potentially do this deal and announce it ahead of January? Juve get the funds needed and money off the books though a January fee would still balance the books ahead of FFP.
